Just got my rocket on Thursday and have been thinking for a while what to do the flooring in! Don't really want it the stainless color would prefer black or carbon! But worried about scratching it! What have you all done and what recommendations do you all have for me???
Thanks a lot Matt

I just covered it in carbon vinyl, £60 for a 5 metre roll. Intend to paint underside with scratch resistant hammerite once the car is complete.

I understand some have had issues with vinyl and rubber peeling back. As such, I've been thinking of getting my floor powder-coated in black and maybe adding some chequer-plate under the pedals, i.e. in the high-wear areas under the heels. As I got my kit recently as well, I'm keen to here thoughts on this topic!
Thanks, Steve

Hi Matt,
If you want the look of carbon fibre I would go for the self adhesive 3M type. If you apply it to the areas that you see, everything forward of the seats, I think that would look good. Then go for some perf or chequer plate for the main wear areas. I have gone for perf st Stl under the pedals and in the main passenger floor area. Depends what look your after vs how well it will wear.

I have a carbon fibre/Kevlar composite floor which is hard wearing and very strong. It may scratch lightly after time but unlike many of the other solutions, you can just polish the area/surface back to look like new as the carbon side has a clear coating.

I sampled carbon fibre in original and graphic form it was too easily marked, finished mine with an alloy floor and spray glued fixed black auto carpet.

I think vinyl would look great initially however it would wear out, mark or peel up quite quickly due too it being very thin. You might be better off spraying or rollering some sort of alloy paint to it, then if it does scratch or wear out you just touch it up. Personally I have left mine plane alloy however may fit some sort of rubber matting depending how the alloy ages.

Just thinking, you could vinyl your floor then maybe find some sort of clear polymer to add a aditional hard clear coat to it.

Hello All
I have had my Rocket for 3 years and have done 10000 miles in it now.
Initially I had the CBS rubber, it's really good but difficult to glue down and looks a bit tatty after a year or two. I have now fitted some rubber workshop flooring from Maplin's (it's sold in jigsaw type tiles that fit together). I have glued these down with sickoflex and they are working out great. They are quite light and to my eye look good too.
For the life of me I can't see why you would paint underneath. the floor is aluminium (or carbon for some) so needs no environmental protection and is only seen once a year by the MOT man. What is wrong with plain aluminium underneath?
Cheers
