hi there rocket builders. im just getting rid of the rest of the few bits n bobs from the donor but am just wondering what i should keep from the front end....regarding the front hubs. now,.... do i keep the whole hub including the bit with the stubs on for the wheels to connect to, or is this split into two parts?,... ie. the hub/brake caliper carrier and the stub axel (think this is wot its called) or is it kept as a whole unit? i just have no idea which bits to keep and after looking at other builds it still doesnt give much away, i can see that a lot of people use the kit from RTR on the front but uim struggling to know what people use on the rear. any help is much appreciated. thanks everyone in advance for your help. whilst im on here... is there anyone around notts/derby who would be willing to let me have a look at theres and maybe take me for a spin?!LOL!! ;D

Hi Mate
I had the same problems when I was stripping the donor car.
Basically, the stub axle and brackets from the rear of the focus, if it had disc brakes, will fit to the RTR front uprights.
The only thing you keep from the front set up is maybe the discs if they are in good condition and if you can remove them, the bearings. Most of the front setup is useless, calipers, springs, upright and caliper brackets do not get used. You will need either wilwood or hispek calipers from RTR as original wont fit.
Most people go for the Rally design alloy uprights, they're not cheap about £350 but that includes upright, caliper bracket, bearings and upright, they look good and are much lighter.
As for the rear, the bearings you remove from the front can get pressed into the RTR rear uprights and the rear calipers from the focus fit to these, or you could also upgrade to the Hispek calipers, make sure you tell RTR if you want the hispeks for the rear as the fitting on the rear upright they supply is different.
You can buy the bearing from ebay for £40 each, so £80 this includes bearing, clamp ring and new axle nut. I just sold the front suspension complete, got £100 for both legs which paid for the new bearings.
Hope this helps
Ned
