Well the day finally arrived for me to drag myself out of bed at 6am and drive my Exocet 30 rather wet and windy miles to the Yeading test centre.
4 hours later and the results were in.... a big fat fail:-(
No surprises really as even driving there for the first time in the dark i noticed the dash wasn't elluminating so a fail there straight away.
It wasn't too bad a fail actually, the emmissions (high CO2) being the biggest problem, already bought a new cat which i hope is the cause of the problem. Most of the other stuff was basically house keeping, tidying up the cables at the back, sleeving the brake lines at certain points, that sort of thing. Happily there are no problems with the mechanics, brakes, steering all good thanks to Mazda.
One of the most amusing things is that the tester wants me to fit a label on the dash pointing to where the fog light switch is, i'm sure i can stretch to that:-)
The only other major point was the mirrors all failed for being too stiff, which they are so if anyone is in need of off loading a couple of MK1 mirrors i'm in the market for some.
On a positive note, by the time the test had finished the sun had come out and the drive home (the long way of course) was much nicer than the drive there, got a big thumbs up from a Lotus Exige driver. can't wait to get it on the road winter or not!
Oh one other thing, the fuel gauge has stopped working, it did work originally but then stopped and i swapped the instrument cowling at oine point and that gauge did the same, any ideas on this one.
Hope to see yowall next week at the kit car show.
