Hi All Attended a trackday at Blyton Park yesterday www.blytonpark.co.uk/ and yes, I got very wet driving the 80 miles there, although the weather was reasonably well behaved for the afternoon. Shame it absolutely tipped it down on the way back around Buxton (Yikes!! ). Very friendly atmosphere, all the facilities you need, and a massive barn to park in if you need to do some work under cover.

It is HUGE fun. One thing I would say is your tyres make a massive difference.
Our "road" tyres are Toyo Proxes 4's. They don't appear to be that good in the wet on the road, and on the track they run out of grip far too soon.
For track use, we have a set of R888's on some rims we bought cheap from ebay which are a world apart. The grip they generate is hilarious! They're not too bad in the damp either, partly because they are so much more progressive than the proxes 4's, but you wouldn't want to drive through any standing water in them...

Brilliant video really enjoyed watching that, looks scary and fun! Also great thread on the cooling issues, a lot a very useful information there. Hopefully next March or April I will be tearing round a track! Regards Jim

I used to take rally car to Blyton all the time, I would never take any other car as was a bit rough. Blyton had a massive amount of money injected and I've not being back since, looks like a great track now. I'll deffo take the rocket there. I think I would trailer it tho as I took rally car there 1 time, drove it there (80miles ish) as was only testing some tyre types out for someone and I double rolled it was a little difficult to get home lol. Had it sorted 2 weeks later. Yeah was great to watch and see how the rocket sticks to corners unlike the BMW in front. With regards to road tyres & tarmac race tyres the difference in grip is night & day. You could'nt really run propper tarmac tyres on the road as they would'nt last long. But the track day tyres are a good compromise such as the Yoko A048's or the Toyo R888's. I personally like track days on road tyres as they are not that great on grip compared to propper tyres but they do work fine. They dont wear out, and you get more slides etc. Not as quick but great for a laugh especially when the tyres are howling, the car is fully sideways (the cameraman is running)and the speccies are loving it. Comedy rallying all the way for me lol.

Fantastic video, like the way you were all over the BMW. What was the car that flew past you.
Engine sounds really meaty, what engine setup are you running.

Hi all, The car that went passed was a ginetta, and he was on R888's, (I hadn't swapped ours over at this point, as the track was still quite damp). Still wasn't quite as quick as him with the R888's on either, but I think he was race tuned and a lot more experienced than me Yes, the track is much smoother these days thanks to a smattering of new tarmac. The engine is standard apart from jenvey throttle bodies, omex ECU and an Ashley competition 4-2-1 manifold available from Burton Power, finished off with a bespoke straight through exhaust and re-packable silencer from JP Exhausts in Macclesfield. JP are not cheap, but they are the best and I would highly recommend them. They've done some pretty special stuff like the exhausts for the Radical SR8 that competed at Le Mans a couple of years ago, a couple of BTCC cars and even produced stock for a manufcturer too. The silencer is so big because we wanted to keep it under 95dB which they've done without losing us any power ;D
