My build has taken a lot longer than I would have liked simply through waiting for bits to arrive. Things to consider are nuts and bolts (its surprising how the lack of the correct size bolts can delay lots of processes) trim edging, brake system ( helpful & cheaper if you can acquire a donor with a rear disc set-up), wheels & tyres, wiring - the wiring has been the most stressful part for me - very important to clearly label every piece of the focus loom as you remove it...

Hi mark The 1.8 is a great engine choice! And, If you manage to get a donor with the disks on the back, you'll have everything you'll need to get stated! Even the stock 1.8 is plenty quick enough to start out with - I reckon I get 0-60 in around 5 seconds! cheers, ol

If you're thinking of hi-spec rears at some point I would do it from the start as they require different uprights from the ones that take the focus rear disc set-up. I have found the focus rear disc/calliper set-up is easy to fit but my donor came with drums on the rear meaning I had to source a set elsewhere, price circa £120 complete with handbrake cables.

I hope to get a donor with rear discs. However, I am not 100% sure what that means in terms of the build. Hey mate, If your donor has the rear discs then you can use the donors calipers to do the rear braking on your Rocket - alternatively I believe you can buy hi-spec units that will fit?? you'll need to check. I guess it depends on simplest way you want to go (and most cost effective)... the donor calipers will be 'free' with the donor - but will require cleaning up before fitting... where as the hi-spec calipers will be box fresh - but at a ££ cost. And, of course, there is always Eray and your local scrappy! hope this helps! Ol

As previously stated, if you want to use the Hi-Spek rear calipers you will have to let RTR know when you order your kit as the rear uprights are different then the focus caliper uprights.
The Hi-spek calipers do look good, I have them on the front but the rear ones are a lot more expensive, so i've put the extra cash to good use and opted for the adjustable wishbones instead, maybe look into changing the focus calipers in the future.
Focus calipers can be bought at a scrappy for about £50-70, only takes a wire brush and some caliper paint for them to look good.
