Hi Guys Started stripping the MX5 last week and i have it down to the shell in a couple of evenings . I have a couple of questions in regard to the AIR BAG System .
I was stripping the wiring loom and marking all the cables and was wondering has any body reinstalled the air bag controller ( Impact Sensor ) that as behind the dash
what other bits where not needed , I know some people kept the power steering while other modified there.
The existing brake and fuel lines are in good nick can these be used again
I put some photos up when i find out how to do it
Regards

Surely the airbag has already gone of , if not it isn't worth having .

Hi Amazing that they did not go off , from what I gather it went through a ditch into a field down a gripe and when the fire rescue service came they prized the doors open but to make a good job the recovery company pulled it up the through the ditch and it slipped off there winch to add more dints
when the fire service got there they cut the battery lead disabling all electrics
If the air bag controller is disconnected will the engine ECU cause a warning in the dash ??

you cant fit an airbag to a kit built vehicle as it'll fail the IVA test you'll have to remove it and take the bulb out the dash so it doesnt light up

youd be surprised at how many airbags dont go off at RTC's it has to be a hefty impact at the right angle. and its standard practice to remove the battery lead, prevents sparks to cause any igniton and eventually once the capacitor in the airbag module is depleted the airbags shouldnt go off.. but always be careful as static electricity can set them off.
