Front wishbone top ball joint

hi Guys, notice lots of problems with the removal and re-fitting of top ball joint nut. If your only doing this to fit the wing stays on a Mk1 1.8 a far better and stronger way is to make a bracket weld the stays to it and drill the huge lump of cast on the front calipers tap 2 x 8mm threads into same and bolt the wings into place. I think our Lord and Master was lucky with his donar as most people seem to be having the same problem, reading the threads (no pun intended). remember this lump is missing on the 1.6 model so not much choice.

I didn't like how the front wing stays were installed either and noticed some issues on here. So, I drilled and tapped a 6mm x 1.00 "locater" hole to keep the bracket that mounts to the top ball joint from moving around. I've included a picture below.



Also, I've been updating a very simple build log over at exocars.net. I thought since Kevin was doing his update on here I would do a build log on exocars.net to get some exposure for the Exocet over there since I believer we're the only two building one in the US? Our builds are so similar it's almost scarey. We've both disassembled and replaced/cleaned/painted almost all the parts along the way. The big difference is that mine will be white and his black:) Also, Kevin has done a MUCH better job of showing pictures of everything along the way.
