I had the rocket out for a short shake down tonight and just as I returned to the unit I list all gears.
Turns out the gear cable skipped of the gear lever (the one on the bottom of the lever that gets turned around).
I managed to reattach but it easily slips off so I guess it's shot.
So my options are new ford ib5 replacement cables or get some made up.
Was thinking of something with Rose joint ends or similar and was wondering if anyone has done this or knows were to go.
Replacement ford ones are the fastest and easies solution. But custom ones may be more reliable. Not sure what to do as i just want to get on the road!!!!
Any thoughts?
Tim

I had much the same problem on mine but I think it's because the ib5 gearbox wants the ball 90' round. It was always twisted. So I cut the cable where it thins and made a sleeve with 4 grub screws. Now I can swivel the joint to the right angle and it has not popped off as yet. I will try to upload a photo. Cheers Ian

Am i missing something here?? we never had any issues with the gear cables in turning them round or anything,,, I think we connected them on and them when we got to the gearbox end the black rubber gromet was the wrong way round so i popped it out turned it round and refitted it and it pushed straight on to the gearbox never had any problems with it Scott

Hi All (I think this should be a tech section thread??)
Anywho... I had a similar issue as described above (the ball cup was 90 deg out)... I just gripped the metal end of the cable and twisted the plastic ball cup the required amount with another pair of pliers... it twists really easily...
Simples!
Cheers, Ol

That was a brave move.
Why did I not think of that?
