Hey guys, A new thread to share ideas about gear shifting. There are a few solutions: An electronic solution: www.kliktronic.co.uk/A very nice solution but not a very cheap one. This solution is used on the blue RTR demo tR1ke. A mechanical solution: This solution is used for the tR1ke build by RTR. I took the attached picture during my visit december 2011. Please your ideas & suggestions!

I bought a Kliktronic a while back with the buttons, I have adapted it to use the TIG switches I bought from Hong Kong to shift up and down and maybe attach them to the back of the steering wheel by velcro maybe. However knowing what electronics are like I don't want to just rely on this. Therefore I intend to have a manual system using the gear change cables you can buy for manual paddle shift setups on westfields etc: I intend to have a lever mounted maybe right hand side of the steering wheel to use this type of strong flexible cable to run to the back and be on standby just in case. I intend to use the same cable to operate my reverse motor pulling it up into the bottom of the chain, maybe via a second handbrake system. The company who make the cable are on eBay UK, they can make a cable any length. I was thinking initially along the lines of a complex bar shift system from the centre tunnel to the gear change, but I think this will be a much neater cheaper solution. This is the type of thing I mean:
