looking to buy exocet kit soon. Sometimes i see cat c or cat d mx5s for sale can anyone tell me if i can use one of these or can it cause problems with registration .hope you can help.Pete .

My understanding is this, keep the VIN plates, photgraphic history of the strip & build, etc and;
with a CAT C and you end up with a Q Plate.
with a CAT D and you end up with an age related plate.
I steered clear of CAT C, and went with a CAT D.

if you have a V5 for the mx5, youll get an age related plate. Most cat c's will require a VIC test to obtain a v5 which unfortuately they wont give to cars with broken glass or badly damaged panels (no hard rules unfortunately, just the dvla exercising the libertyy to refuse test) If your cat d doesnt have a V5 (most will) all you need to do is apply for it, no tests etc etc. Will
