I need new coilover springs for my Mev Rocket in the USA. Can someone point me in the correct direction? thanks in advance. I believe they are protechshocks coilovers. What is the original spring diameter and poundage? Also can someone send me a link to the original coilover on this site? www.protechshocks.co.uk/www.protechshocks.co.uk/springs/

Assuming everything is standard you would need 1.9" ID X 8" long springs. I bought mine from Demon Tweeks, the brand was Faulkner's. www.demon-tweeks.com/nz/faulkners-race-springs-1-9-internal-diameter-2002513/ However the reason I choose those over Protech was the shipping cost to NZ, can't remember the total cost for two but the difference was significant. Can't believe you can't get them local to you in USA though, there's nothing special about Protech springs. That said I have nothing against them either, good brand. What spring rate are you going for? The originals supplied with my kit was 165\300 and I found them too soft. I now use 300\400 and like that combination plus it lines up with advice I have been given and spring rate calculators on the net. Totally your call though!

I put the heavier springs on because I was getting grounding issues when doing hillclimbs. Initially I kept winding up the original 175/300 springs to try and overcome it but someone advised me they were seeing coil binding which effectively meant I did not have springs when driving, however I did have a fat boy along side of me Putting the car and suspension details into a spring calculator sees 400 to 450lb required at the rear (depending on whether I have a passenger). The front is probably a bit heavy in theory (from the calculator) and perhaps 250 would be a bit more sensible. Regardless of the maths though I do like the combination and it does not seem harsh to me.

That does sound like you have a fantastic setup. I might have to pursue the same or at least do a 250 front and 350 rear. Hopefully I can find the springs here in the USA. I did a quick search and have yet to find a reputable company. You don't happen to know any companies in the USA that carry comparable springs and shocks?
