Hi Guys,
My name is Phil, and I am currently interested in build an Exocet.
Let me set my stall out now. I have always wanted an AC Cobra but the cost of a real one is far too expensive, so I always planned to build a kit version. Long story short - I now have the means and space to build a kit car, although my taste has shifted slightly towards a GT40 instead. In fact, I have a dead Ford 302 coming this week as the first step.
However, having built nothing more complicated than an Ikea cabinet (and damn good at it) I wanted a "learning" project to start with, and was impressed with the MEV stand at Stoneleigh.
I have already been looking on eBay for an MX5 to strip, and following a guy on YouTube who is showing his build step-by-step. My plan is to take a year to strip the MX5, and a year to build the chassis back up. This will enable me to test my skills, purchase any tools I may need, find suppliers, machine shop, paint shop, etc. needed for any future build.
I can then spend a few years having fun on track days, before selling and building a GT40.
Who knows, I might like the Exocet so much that my plans change.
Take care, Phil.
