awesome!! someone around here!! I'm in Cambridge as well, I got Sonic chassis and building on my own with ST170. I had a couple of mods in the chassis to fit an off the shelf stainless exhaust...this is an old photo this one is the most recent:

some more work fitting the tank and accessories... I'm using a pole-style fuel sender. the pump top cap is pressed with a 120mm oring to seal. I punched rivnuts and sealed from inside with epoxy putty so I can bolt the "clips". Just need to remember not to use long bolts otherwise the putty will be gone! Everything was nice and nit until yesterday I decided to pressurise the fuel line. I found in the hardest (and messy) way that I damaged the tiny brown/cream o-rings that go in the outlet connector when putting them in place...it's not the first time!! I found nitrile rubber o-ring from eBay with same size (apparently 8mm ID with 1.5mm cross section) to be delivered on Friday in the hope to find a good alternative (I don't want to buy another fuel connector just because the o-rings!). Cheers, Marcio.

I got from www.compbrake.com, I designed and sent a couple of JPG with all dimensions, shape, fixing points etc to sales@compbrake.com and they made in 3mm alloy with two baffles. £280-ish including VAT and shipping! I'm drilling holes for the fuel pump (Ford type), sender (pole) and breather myself.

Some (very few) may know I'm building own kitcar based on Sonic chassis with ST170. Since I got my part-kit - I bought end of 2014, everything except for GRP panels, I was never fan the fuel tank size (just to mention I ran out of fuel 3 times not even taking the car out of the driveway lol). So I ordered a custom one with about 58 litres to take the whole unused (in my case) space behind the seats: There is a bulkhead covering the tank not shown in the photos. Cheers, Marcio.

I'm going, mostly likely Sunday but driving normal car (my kit is still naked) to search for inspiration for the body!

You are not that far, I'm in Cambridge and surprisingly not a single flake of snow around here! Apart from the exhaust manifold and some elbows, it's all aluminium. I don't do welding, so where I could I "rivnuted" to bold bars. To fit the engine (ST170) I asked for help to do this mod: www.dropbox.com/s/f9u5hqe63v3ktgb/IMG_20150815_165829.jpgThis is an old photo, so the puller is well placed, fuse box is not there, rear bulkhead changed, etc...Using the ST170 manifold, I had no problems with the cat. And you may see from the first photo that I rose (has been risen!!) the bar where the steering column is attached. Because I'm using fancy (and higher) seats, my knees were catching the steering column and that would be a big IVA fail. This mod also improved the comfort! Cheers, Marcio.

Looking good!! I'm building mine but so far no bodywork yet, I shall start soon!! I don't want to mess your photos with mine, this photo I took today: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88787/12715684_10153596002928025_6710854213029170404_n.jpgSo far all electronics are good, I can drive it (of course never left the driveway), brakes, cooling, etc, all good. (after a hell of work!) I'm using front vented discs. I made a special order from High Spec brakes to fit a vented disc on the Rally Design upright (not shown in the photo). Out of curiosity, where are about in the UK? There are loads of snow around! Cheers, Marcio.

airforceoneI was in contact with HighSpec and they made for me disc brakes specifically for RD upright. They also had calipers with 129mm fixing (wilwood). So now I will have RD hubs and upright with HighSpec calipers, pads and vented discs with 27mm height. I saw Peugeot but did you have to drill new PCD? (should we create new thread to discuss the topic?)

What front brakes setup are you using? I'm using RD uprights and I managed to have vented discs and calipers from HighSpec.

Oh no!! What do you mean with "disaster" Today I just tried to pump oil into the engine (just running the starter until the oil pressure indicator turns off). So far everything was all right, ran a quick diagnostic, there was nothing missing. I still need to do the cooling, fuel and exhaust to be able to start the engine. Then I will do the brakes and steering. I should create a new thread with my photos. I had little time since I started! One thing I want to post at least is the modification in the rear to accommodate the exhaust manifold.

Hey Howards, How is your build? I finally started mine couple of months ago with a lot of work!! One good-ish thing: I managed to use the stainless exhaust manifold...but it was costed a bit: I modified the rear bulkhead. Cheers, Marcio.

There was a damn metal plate in the wheel well, that made a bit hard to access the bolt, nothing that a hammer wouldn't help...it's done! Thanks!!

Hi!
I finally started stripping off my donor (well part of it), I took some photos around (they are in my phone) but I haven't got time to organize things, I have short schedule and I need to get rid of my donor by easter.
One thing I kind of got stuck: you know the big connector in the left footwell (that connects the internal fuse box to the external fuse box), how did you manage to take that thing off??
Oh, another question: I was browsing your photos and I noticed you are not using the expansion tank in the cooling, is that correct?
Thanks!

I was thinking about using the front-lower exhaust pipe from Mondeo together with exhaust manifold. I found some decat pipes that could be used as the cat converter for ST170 is further away from the engine (instead of hanging on the manifold). I can't test it because I'm painfully away from home (business trip!!) and I don't know how the RTR silencer looks like.
In my case as I'm not using RTR silencer, I thought of getting the front-lower pipe, chop off the joint to make the end a bit longer and curve to the left side so cat goes to the side, then another curve to have the silencer going to the right hand side. Not sure if that makes sense, all I've got was a hand drawing in a piece of paper!!
Thanks!
