After a bit of a break I did a bit more on the Sonic build today and ran into a problem.
Is it possible to use the donor air intake without modifying the engine cover? The build manual states the donor air intake will require cutting down to miss the cover and then shows a photo of what appears to be a completely different air intake. I cannot see a way of cutting the existing intake and still get it to fit on the throttle body.
What has everyone used?
Cheers Steve

We had a plenum intake on the demo car, so didn't use the standard Focus inlet manifold. However, we recently had another Sonic7 through the workshop which used the standard manifold and some 83 mm silicone ducting from Car Builder Solutions: www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/83mm-3-14-black-silicone-duct-hoseI think others have done the same/similar, but would be interested to see some alternatives.

Hi Angus
Thanks for the reply. I did think about using flexible hose but was worried as to whether it would collapse. I'll give it a try.
You said "had" a single inlet plenum, does that mean you now have throttle bodies?

Yes, now running a set of Jenvey 45s! We've not quite gone to the same extreme as petes, we have very short air horns which just fit under the engine cover.

I wonder if I could get away with telling the wife I NEED a set of throttle bodies in order to get the engine cover to fit? No scratch that I know I wouldn't!
Do you notice much difference with them?
Cheers Steve

It is still running on the Omex startup map, not properly mapped to get the most from it, so can't give any figures yet. It does go very well though, excellent throttle response and a great soundtrack!

Noooo! You're supposed to tell me it hasn't made any difference and not to waste my money. Ah well maybe next year.

Ok
The lack of throttle bodies on YOUR Sonic has made no difference to MY Rocket so don't waste money on them.
There, does that help?

I feel your pain, I once had a quote sent to me for a lithium race battery and made the mistake of using my home email account. I listened to the objections and all the reasons why it was not a good idea and promised not to do such a thing again. True to me word I made sure all future quotes came through to me work email
