Re Iva. I got email accepting application then about a week later I had another asking for payment a my application had been processed. I ticked the box to make payment once application received rather than filling my card details in. I had to phone to pay and had chat to guy from DVSA who was helpful and suggested I was in the queue now behind those who had tests cancelled but could not give me timescale, but at least I am in the queue so fingers crossed I get one before the summer is out.
Re belts I will keep looking and sort something*, thanks

Just wondered when you submitted your paperwork for IVA and when you heard back from them?
I submitted mine about 4 weeks ago and have had nothing back from them yet.
Thanks

I submitted my application online on 27th April, with photos etc and I got an email stating it was being assessed on the 29th. I then got an email stating application was ready to process payment so I called up and made payment then got email it was released for inspection on the 12th May.
Not holding my breath for a test date as when I phoned up the guy was very helpful but said that all those with test that had been cancelled in march and April but be priority, unless I could apply under the priority system for essential Covid users which I don't think I would get away with.
Good luck and if you get a date let me know, hopefully wont be too long.. Just want to be out in this great weather and on those quiet roads

Bloody hotmail 😡 Anyway £450 lighter now just waiting for tests to resume thanks

Passed the IVA yesterday so spend some time getting the V55 etc all filled in and going to catch the post tonight. Hoping the DVSA are not to long getting this processed. Some good help and advice on here in the IVA section for filling out the paperwork.
Now the tinkering starts - windscreens and new headlights first off. The Dominators scrapped through with very helpful tester, got to be better options out there for similar money, I like the ones hutchey just mentioned from Rally design.

I still put in the brightest bulbs from Halfords on my retest and the examiner said "oh those are really bright" so have to say I'm happy with them. Time will tell when I get the reg through and can go out in it but they do throw a nice beam across the field.

No had a couple of fail point on initial test but well pleased as never done anything like this before. Examiner said the build was very clean and to a high standard, sounds like he had seen some horrendous kits in the past.
Main things from 1st test was lights, but examiner helped get them through during the test, then abs as previous owner had taken the bulb out so had no abs check light. When I tested the abs system got error code on both front sensors so to replace both sensors which was a nightmare as bolts both snapped so had to be drilled out.
Another one was handbrake cable. When applying the cable flexed and touched the chassis so had to run it through a length of hose to protect it from rubbing.
Overall process was very informative and the examiner explained everything along the way. Would recommend chadderton test centre if anyone else in the northwest.

That's good, it helps to have a good examiner, I've only ever gone to Nottingham & the 2 lads that used to be there, no idea if they are still, my days were SVA so over 10 years ago. But they seemed to have the attitude that they wanted you/the kit pass the test, but would fail if it wasn't up to standard, but they would explain exactly what they were looking for, not necessarily how to fix it, but along the lines, Well for me to test this my x cannot contact that Y so if I can't get in there to test, it must pass.
