Hi Hammy I've been slightly diverted by annoying family duties. However, back on the car trail now. Have done some more on the body. Have also finally got the car to start. Which felt like a miracle. I will post some more at the weekend, but here's the body as it currently stands. I was going to try to do an internal door hinge (like the original) but I came to the conclusion that Mini hinges were much easier. I've got wire wheels. Does anyone have any thoughts on what size spacers it needs? tails games online free

Good to see you back on it. I wouldn't worry about spacer size until you've got the body mounted on to the rolling chassis - which will give you a clearer indication of the size required for the wheels to fill the arches better.

Internal hinges are possible indeed a challenge. I think if Andy developed and offered as on optional extra most would take it.
I have 20mm spacers on mine but depends on your wheel offset (ET)

On the internal hinges, and bearing in mind I have no doors on mine, it struck me whilst filling the wifes BMW that the fuel cap hinges are quite robust and would make excellent door hinges and you could simply bond the cap outer face to the back of the door (hope that makes sense).

Got the remaining bits of aluminium panel on. I also put the spacers on (25mm on front, 30mm on rear) which allowed me to get the wire wheels on.
I still have loads to do (instruments don’t work, still need to fit the seats etc etc), but I fancied putting the body on. I welded a bracket to the front and used rubber mounts. I need to paint the (very agricultural) welding - Andy what’s the best match for my light grey chassis? But even with loads to do, felt really good buzzing round the garden with the body on.

Just bought this great book. Some nice inspiration (although no hope on wiring looms).
Lovely photo of several of the cars together. I’ll post more later.

Lockdown has allowed me a bit more time to work on the car. It looks ok now, it goes and stops and (thanks to a friend) all the electrics work. We gave up on on the individual instruments and went back to MX5 instruments. With a chrome surround, it looks pretty good, so not going to stress about that.
Got a new intake for the engine which looks cool.

Also got a new tray for the battery at the back, which fits nicely.
I still need to put a fuel filler on the outside and some IVA compliant seats on the inside and it should be pretty much good to go.

The end is finally in sight, so I’m going to dust off all the paperwork and start putting the IVA application in place.
I think the kit is really good quality. Everything seems to have fit together nicely. And crucially all the cock ups are mine (there have been several). Thank you Andy for your help and nice to see you the other day in Ivybridge. I’ll keep you up to date as I hopefully get it through the IVA test and registered. Any tips welcomely received.

Looking great, well done, the last bits seem to take ages.

Regards IVA might be might be marginal getting the vision with those mirrors, might need some cheap IVA longstalk versions (from CBS) for the test.
It’s also risky with the fly screen fitted most people have done without, just one less area to fail.

All finished now, IVA'd and on the road. Some electrical gremlins after a massive downpour of rain, but these seems to have sorted themselves out with a good drying out. The car drives and sounds brilliant. This is it on a misty day at Beachy Head.
