Afternoon, Could do with some advise ref fuel filler cap and the IVA. My understanding is the filler cap can't be in the boot so needs to be external, and tethered. Thinking of putting a 2" classic type on, this has the snap clamp type clip to secure , would this pass the IVA? Are there any conditions it has to meet ref fitting flush, upstanding a few inches?

If the boot is not a boot, in other words has not been boxed in to create a storage space then the cap can be under the boot lid. If above it needs to be radiused all around to a minimum of 2.5mm, but a hinge type cap is classed as tethered. Tank must be able to breath, some classic type caps do not have a vent.

Also, it must not protrude more than 50mm from the external surface (Section 16 of IVA manual 'External Projections'- Reqd standard 19.)

Have a look at Steve's 'Norfolk Build' thread on next page. He has photos of his IVA test (page 4) with what looks like an Aston style cap fitted and he had a first-time pass. So could be worth sending him a PM to see where he got it from? (as most would fail on height and radiused edges.)

How did you vent? I was going to use original MX5 filler but can't get clearance between body and tank so need another solution I dont have a boot lid (I have one piece body) so looking to place filler in centre of rear deck.

CBS do a fuel grade plastic pipe fitting with ‘t’
I used this with the same cap and just ran a separate rubber fuel pipe vent line from tank to the ‘t’ just below the filler cap.
