Hi Aterro, I put the banana on to use as a template to draw round it then removed and used a carbide tool for in a high speed drill it took about 2o-30 min each then used a 60 grit sanding wheel made a really nice job and kept a lot of strength still in wish bone. i will still use the bananas but it they would be fine without now. cheers

Putting it back together is a nice feeling. Especially when it is all newly cleaned!

Have you drilled the rear upright for the fender bracket yet before you can't get a drill motor near it straight in line.. Are you going to be using the ABS on the build..

Anyway to get just the rear brackets now before frame is ready.. So you can fit it and the ABS sensor to the upright at same location..

Hi gwnwar,
ive just had a look and realised what you were meaning the rear stay fits where the ABS sensor is located. is it still possible to keep the ABS and have room to locate the sensor?
cheers

The sensor goes inboard of the 2 mounting bolts. Others have kept the ABS system.. I believe they made a bracket to be held in place by the 2 sensor bolts. (need longer bolts)..and got welded onto the fender bracket..Hopefully someone will chime in with how to and pics.

Power steering will be no problem.. If you have the metal tube in front of radiator you will have to make up a bracket.. With the ABS.. don't cut any wires for it till you get it working.. The module grounds behind the right head lamp, fuse 10A in inside box. Hyd. unit has fuse ABS 20A in engine box and fuse link by engine box.. ABS motor grounds to frame.. Rear wires have a connector between the front and rear harness by rear shelf.. A few more brake tubes to make up. Draw it all out first take pics of what you have and were tubes go to/from.. Check wire print out for were wires are and colors.. double flare new tubes..

well things are going good made a bit of progress as sold most of parts from donor and got £520 so far and should get another £200 with whats left and then there is the private plate that came with the MX5 still to sell, so overall pleased with the amount of money coming back . i have fitted the wheel stays today but a bit concerned with the clearance:( but overall going well, should have roling chassis by the next week or so Just found these at work they are soft rubber and look perfect for the track rod ends (IVA in mind)

Another productive day before my night shift, Got the front ABS sensors fitted and the steering rack all bolted up, wheel stays on and shockers in position now just waiting for front and rear caliper paint to arrive as i don't like the orange that i have painted them:( i'm chuffed to bits with the track rod covers as they look made for the job and can be pulled back as made from soft rubber to allow adjustment without damage i hope they are ok for IVA, getting closer to a running PPF frame
