Did they let you carry out the repairs yourself? I don't fancy someone else fiddling with my motor!

I got a insurance quote off the guy that had taken over the Mevster kit sales I sent that to the insurance and he made us the bonnet but I fixed it myself

Big nik,
Sorry to hear that, what a twi for driving off. Similar happened to me last year however they stopped and were insured. The insurance was a PITA, took me 6 months for a payout. If you want to carry out the work yourself then you can, or you can take it to a garage which you feel happy to carry out such repairs. I repaired my own, created my own estimate based on total strip down and rebuild. 3rd party insurers ended up getting 2 assessors, but gave me what I had estimated less the VAT (to be claimed once complete). A PITA process, complete now and was better for me as I had initially built the kit.
If you have any specific questions, please feel free to fire them over and I'll try to respond as best as possible.

Thanks for the info Lee, i built mine form scratch aswell so i'm hoping ill be able to go the same route. I made quite a few custom parts for mine during the build that i will need to replace, so i'm hoping they will be ok with that. Did you put the labor hours on your estimate?

Check you diff housing on right side they are made to break when hit in rear.. Mid way between housing mount and diff.. What broke I see the lower up right bolt in place but no upper bolt.. Do you have adjustable upper control arms on rear.. will you post closer pics of control arms and up right hub section..

I tried to get quotes for all replacement parts (but not necessary), estimated the hours to dismantle and re-assemble (note mine was a complete strip down), itemise on a word document and sent it in (keep a copy as you are likely to get a visit from an assessor, which you can show them too). Remember you've already built it so little development required, only improvements (within reason).
Under your circumstances, it maybe worth considering paying yourself (due to uninsured driver), it may be cheaper than excess and increased premium? Good luck.

Thanks for that, insurance have been in touch today and have asked for the estimate. Don't suppose you have a copy of yours I could use as a template??
