I did much the same as tojeiro except that I mounted handbrake cable supports to the back of the MEV chassis instead of the rear subframe. I used a vertical brace that coupled to the original MX5 cable slider instead of a wheel riser. Otherwise it's much the same. Can provide pics if required.

Page 15 my build shows angle brackets I made which are held in place by the bolts which secure petrol tank. The standard MX5 cable brackets are then used, these locations turned out to be perfect for the location of the brackets and provide a nice smooth curve avoiding any internal snagging of cable.

Drivers side, showing underside of fuel tank and small welded on bracket with p-clip around handbrake cable. Fuel tank also earthed to this. Passenger side, similar small welded bracket and p-clip. Routing of cables into cockpit. Lever mechanism. Small tapped aluminium cylinder with a recess to capture the clip from the original cable slider. Cylinder bolted in from below. Thin ally sheet cover bolted to rivnuts.
