Hi , I've been looking at the Exocet and would like to build one in the new year. I currently have a mx5 turbo with the turbo mounted next to the manifold rather than lower it. If I was to buy a kit would the engine fit with the turbo. I presume that the coilovers would fit. Is the any problems that could be a result of the extra power generated by the engine (260bhp) also how much have the fully built cars weighed and have any 0-60 tests been carried out yet due to the weight change? Sorry also forgot to ask if there's any room for an intercooler at front or rear of the kit?

Wicked ;D I was wondering how long it would take for a MX5 enthusiast, to realise the potential of the Exocet Go for it Having been one of the few to drive the MEV, demonstrator Exocet on a track, i tell you it just begs for someone to use a track/power MX5 as a donor. Strip 300kgs, lower the c of g and widen the wheel base + its just got to be a win win situation. When you going to let me test drive it ? nigel ( as far as finding room for the inter-cooler - just find it )

So I'll be looking to ward the 650-700kg mark then. Ive been looking at the chassis of the Exocet and it would be Pretty easy to use the side bars near the seats to mount an intercooler/ brake cooling duct. Can't magine c og g being to different as my mx occasionally scrapes the floor and the track width is an extra 110mm over standard. But it would be mOre fun to drive the Exocet, plus if funds allowed a poss 290bhp is easily reachable : ) did you knowtice much difference both handling and speed size from an mx5 when u drove it on the track

A true comparison could only be gained by getting directly out of a standard MX5 and into a Exocet of similar engine size. Apart from the effect of the exoskeleton design which puts you far more in touch with the elements, the weight loss provides the most significant and noticeable difference, everything brakes, acceleration, turn-in, are rejuvenated brought alive again. I have since Curborough had the opportunity to cover 180miles plus in a std 1.6, Mk2.5, MX5 and can confirm that my opinion as to the Exocets dynamics. For me it is unquestionably the best kit on the market for some one new to the kit car market, and I'm looking forward to seeing who will be the first MX5 enthusiast/racer to build an Exocet. nigel

I reckon the intercooler will fit in the nose cone, there's stacks of room to the side of the exhaust manifold. Breaking new ground though but I plan to install my turbo kit when time allows. Performance wise I guess if you take 30% off the 0-60 figures of what ever MX5 you are comparing it to then you will not be far off.

Not many people done turbos on these then? -30% should take it below 5 seconds 0-60 so sounds good, prob av to run a full tank of fuel to get some weight over the rear wheels tho lol

I think if i buy this kits in the future im gonna try out the Kraftwerks Rotrex Centrifugal Supercharger on it. im sure the Exocet is already fast with how little it weighs. A twin screw supercharger would seem to make this vehicle too ass happy and goin turbo would be awesome for huge power, but the Rotrex SC is just easier to maintain and doesnt have lag. Im excited about this and i havent even begun saving up the money hahaha!
