Hi.....have done a (probably inadequate) search but didn't find what I'm looking for. Has anyone, please, got experience of 949 Racing's Xida coilovers or Flyin Miata's Fox coilovers on an Exocet? Thanks.

I also want to hear any reviews on the these. On the Miata, they rock, but the OEM suspension on the Exocet is quite hard, so I haven't gone with anything stiffer.

My understanding is that the Xidas are supplied for Miatas / MX5s with 700 / 400 springs. There's a video on YouTube showing Xidas working on an Exocet, and these have 700 / 400 springs. However 949 have told me that they run 550 / 350 springs on Exocets, so I've ordered a set with these springs. Not that it's any big deal to swap springs. 949 also say that we'll need the Exomotive Shock Spacers, and the Exocet in the mentioned video is fitted with the Exomotive spacers. But I'm going to wait until the Xidas are delivered to make a judgement on this. I'm not entirely sure that the UK and USA Exocet chassis frames are identical. Being in the UK I've ordered the Xidas from AST UK, who, I believe, manufactured the first generation Xidas.

Without spacers, there isn't enough droop travel available.
I disagree with the 550/350 recommendation, as well, but it depends on your intended purpose.

The car is for 100% track use, so we're after maximum grip. Not bothered about appearance or comfort. Which springs would you suggest please? I tend to take 949's word as gospel.

If it's for track use with track tires, at LEAST the 700/400.

....by the way, if you consider 700 / 400 to be the softest springs for track work, which ratings do you consider to be best please? I've read somewhere that valving out of the box covers the range 400 to 900. Which springs do you use on your Exocet for track use?

OK. I've changed our Xida order to 700 / 400, so we'll see how we get on with them.

That's the plan .. after I was sold on it as being what was used on the "2016 Ultimate Skidpad Challenge Overall Winner V8 Exocet".

So Kevin @ Exomotive confirmed for me that the spring rates I have is what they ran on the V8 Exo that won the skidpad challenge. That is a relief for me as it means I'm starting from an 'okay' setup.
Also confirmed that the Blackbox Exocet is running XIDAS 550F / 350R.
Now for the troubling part. While looking into it more, I'm heard from a source close to Roman, the owner of that Blackbox car, about issues with the Exo suspension setup. Supposedly 949 Racing spent lots of time working with him to get those Xidas working as well as it does on Miata. The fact that the car is on sale now supposedly mean they weren't able to.
Also rumors of FM's Turbo and V8 Exo getting lapped by 'normal' Miatas at MRLSC this year. Supposedly the Exo chassis messed up the OEM Miata suspension geometry so off the shelf Miata suspension parts doesn't perform as well ?
In order words, it seems the Exo chassis is great as a weekend fun toy that's different and cool, but doesn't really 'scale up' well ( yet ) when the performance envelope is pushed.
I think to really dig into this further I need to contact Blackbox to hear what Roman has to say .. will update when I find out more.
