Its a bit early yet but thought i would guage a bit of interst from the Moggers before commiting to anything concrete.
As some of you know i have made the trip over to England twice now in my MEV (once for tuning and once for Stoneleigh). So how about some of you guys make the trip over here!
As the Moggers are now starting to expand into Northern Ireland it would be good to get a gathering over here with some of our English/Scottish and Welsh moggers.
I know its a long trip (i have done it twice!) so i thought it needs something special to make it worth while so this would be a rought idea of the plan.
Moggers arriving to Northern Ireland on friday night/saturday morning and meeting at "The Motor Gym" (www.themotorgym.com), located about 30mins from the ferry terminals. I am one of the owners of The Motor Gym and the idea would be to set aside the premises purley for Moggers use on the day to use all the equipment. There is more info on our web site but primarily it would be the set-up equipment such as corner weights etc that could be used. Could even have a prize for the lightest MEV!!!
The plan would be a half day drive organised around the Ards peninsula area with lunch, before returning to The Motor Gym for about 8 hours playing on the setup equipment interrupted with a BBQ in the evening and a few beers!. All cars could be stored at The Motor Gym overnight as we have secure storage and cctv coverage, and we could even organise your taxis down to a hotel. Those drunk enough can sleep on the sofa in The Motor Gym!
Then on the sunday we intend to secure some places at a track day at Kirkistown race circuit were the likes of Eddie Irvine and Martin Donnelly started (http://www.kirkistown.com). This should really test out the modifications made to your cars and also really help promote the MEV's over here! We should get about 6-7 hours at the track and you should be able to go in and out the pits as you please.
That should just leave you enough time to get back to Belfast (about an hours drive from the circuit) to get the overnight ferry home!
So, first of all. Would any moggers be interested in this? If so i will investigate likely costs and some potential dates. I also have a contact on some of the ferry companies who may be able to arrange a group discount for anyone coming over. Its likely to be around may/june next year, but nothing like planning ahead!!!
