Hi Always wanted to do a kit car so finally bought a Exocet kit , donor car bought a 95 mk1 . Had a good day yesterday and stripped the body off , a few bolts sheared but not as many as I thought would so that's a plus , got 6-8 weeks before kit arrives so plenty to get on with . Loom looks a bit of a nightmare but labeld everything , I used small key rings £7.50 for 50 from staples seemed the best way .. Today we're going to gas axe the body not even going to worry about the scrap value just going to skip it got the doors , bonnet wings and trim panels to sell so might get a bit for them . Looking forward to the build and any problems it throws up

Hi Have ordered a Exocet kit in orange anybody know the nearest RAL number the the mev orange as i want to have some paint made . I know I could match a wing up at a paint shop but I wanted to paint a few bits before the kit arrived . Probably won't get an exact match but just wanted to be as close as I can get . Many thanks

Spoke to mev and was given a pigment make and number but pigment can not be made into a paint as only for resin that's why I asked the question I thought some one else would have wanted some paint to match the orange panels

Hi Sparkyman,
I'm just down the road from you in Basingstoke - like trident says soon the exocet will be a common site on the roads around here...

Hi sparkyman. I spoke to Jon at basingstoke metal finishes and he mentioned he works with the tadley guys I think. They have an arrangement as far as I can tell, he blasts and they coat. he seemed to think it would be around the 150 mark but they can't say for sure until they see the parts. Vickers weren't interested as they are too commercial... I'd be interested to hear how you get on as I'm still a few weeks away from sending my parts out...

Hi Again Sparkyman.
Quick question, how did you scrap your body shell? I'm finding it difficult to get a scrap merchant to pick it up as it's not rolling and has no engine etc...
Thanks, NJ

Well that's it hour and a half with a 9 inch disc cutter and body is no more . Decided at £20 per ton not worth the hassle to weigh it in had a skip in front garden so in it went Surprising the damage you can do with one of those things

Hi picked up my kit today , a long 6 hour drive there and back but worth it . Couldn't resist a quick mock up when unloading van . Must say it looks better in the flesh than the pictures , orange and black looks real mean, it's given me a jolt to get on with the build . So let the build begin
