I promised the missus that I would take a few months off in summer so tonight I sat the body on top of the car in the garage for storage.
Electrics need looking at the car runs but not all the lights work. When I went to fit the body my rear subframe seems to be a few inches long and with the rear of the body flush with the rear body mount it's a few inches to far back and can't get the body over their wheels.
Anyone else had this ?

Had the same. Fitted the body without rear frame then cut frame to size. Did front mounts first.

Cheers mate it made sitting the body on top for storage over school holidays hard the chassis is at least 3 or 4 inches longer than the body currently.
Hopefully in a few months body comes off and can start again. Electrics first but it is good to see it on the chassis.

I've returned, i had summer off the build as promised but considering I had to de-ice the cars this morning that's the signal it's time to get back on it.
Not much happened since last on here, went Le Man classic and my monaro v8 drained a few funds having its 50k service and brakes.
Back to replicar it's battery to be charged, exhaust on (temp oe system bolted up just so I can run it for a bit without annoying neighbours) fuel in the tank and then battle my electrics.
Despite keeping my oe loom intact some lights refused to work like indicators, hazards and rear number plate lights but got to start somewhere.
Glad to see some familiar and new names in our build section hope you're all well.

Front turn-hazard L/R each has a ground spot by the OEM headlamps.. Rear has a ground spot in trunk between the OEM tail lamps.. Check the turn and hazard fuses 10A in inside box.. See if you have power at hazard switch wires BR/W..V/M Turn switch connected.. Connector for (F)>(I)harness under left dash long row of wires..And (F)>(I) right under dash.. Double row of wires.. Flasher black wire grounded..

Thanks for the list I double checked the front grounds on each side of the headlight loom and the one near rear lights also changed the fuses but still no luck.
Had a look at the relays and flasher units and go over the other tips you listed start looking at where does or doesn't have power. Thanks mate.

Pleased to see you are back on the build. I need to update my blog as loads have been added. Just fitting some splash guards in to the wheel wells, only working on keeping the cockpit dry at the mo'.
Don't forget to get the latest updates photographed and uploaded.

After 6 months I'm back I promise was meant to start is January but couldn't get a hand on my days off to lift body off and store. But it's done now.
It's been so long I've forgotten where I was upto but put some fuel in it yesterday and it started up. Need to fit a temp exhaust system so I can leave it running for a bit and the handbrake only engages on the very last click I've fiddled with the internal adjustment but not enough so I hope I can adjust enough at the caliper end but will see.
Good to see other people's progress.

Two jobs done, battery situated used a battery tray which is now bolted down and battery strapped in behind passenger seat. Heard some iva testers want the battery covered will cross that bridge when I come to it. Also done the handbrake and adjusted it so it's spot on just a few clicks now and it's on. Thanks for the tips about how it's done on these mazda calipers, not a bad job really took longer to Jack rear up and take the wheels off. Once you done that removing the bokt and adjust the Allen bokt till it grabs was quite easy. Dinner time now then look at the exhaust and see what I need to do to get it offered up and order some hangers.

OK done for today have ordered some quick release battery terminals which have built in covers think for the boat/marine world but they look a nice bit of kit and just need crimping on and then will mean both terminals are covered also managed to hang the exhaust........kinda.
My donor is a mk2 the cat and middle section fir alright and managed to use the oe hanger point alright but the back box doesn't fit. I assume the back box is bigger for the mk2 than the mk1 I have fit it in as a temporary measure so I can run the car and do some checks (heating system, bleed airlock, fans and electrics) but the box touches the rear body support.
Still I'm happy with today's progress. My 'need to buy' list is growing quickly.
