I tried exactly what you suggest thinking that it would work. No luck. If you figure out a method to make it work, I hope you post it. I spent an hour wondering what I had done wrong since the diode worked great for my front lights and I expected the same for the rear. I freely admit I am a newbie, so my efforts take much longer than it would take others with more experience. This is my first build. Ever. Without the wonderful people here on this forum I would be in deep state of confusion. :-) Robert This is This is what you need to do for it to work. I'm not sure where I got this pic from, so I don't know who to give credit to.

Most modern relays have the diode built in?

So, as I look at this, I wonder, what kind of diode? Where do i put them? I am not very fluent with wiring diagrams. Robert More info than you want: A coil stores energy and when you remove the current by opening the switch it will try to keep the current flowing and create a large back-voltage spike which will eventually damage the switch after many cycles. If the switch is a transistor - like an ECU output - the voltage spike can be destructive. The diode shunts the back voltage and protects the switch by letting the current ramp down gradually. Almost any diode would work - something like a 1A (or more) 200v (or more) diode/rectifier is OK. Never thought I'd say this, but it would be nice if Radio Shack were still around. Hit ebay or elsewhere on the web for 1N4007. Any 1N4001 to 4007 series part is fine.

This thread is a month old, but I am having the same issues getting my lights to work. About to try my 3rd different converter.
Currently, turn signals work, Brakes work, but not hazards or reverse lights.

I don't recall the backup lights having anything to do with the converter - isn't there a reverse light wire coming out of the loom? That should come from the transmission - check the fuse and the transmission switch.
The hazards have a separate fuse since they're always on.
You do have a wiring diagram, right?

Good evening, please be gentle with me as this is my first post. I am the proud new owner of NITRAMS yellow Exocet and loving every minute. I have recently changed the existing Hamburger rear lights for LED version. As the indicators were flashing too fast I have fitted a resistor, although this has solved the indicator function, the hazard lights are now almost invisible from the rear. Can anyone help?
