I'm with you, I hated that dumb airflow meter. Good luck with the megasquirt. Mine has worked really well, once setup!

For the first iteration I'm just going to drop the 1.6 that's on the frame on (it's a super clean motor, but it has ~200k on the clock). I found a deal I couldn't pass up for a nicely built 1.6. Eagle rods, double valve springs, and some rather aggressive cams. I got some 12:1 pistons with it to hopefully make a grumpy little engine. Having now dead lifted a miata engine out of the back of my speed3, I understand where all the weight in a miata sits.... Hilariously heavy. Getting it over the lip of the hatch was a sketchy bit of moving. Didn't scratch the hatch or hit the engine, so it's a win. I've moved a fully assembled honda 2.0 block and head into my dorm room on the 3rd floor when I was in college, the miata 1.6 seemed much heavier (by my well calibrated arm scales). In hindsight taking off that stock flywheel might've helped a bit.

We have a chassis number! 176! Managed to get the roller skate dropped this weekend, I didn't use a lift; I just put a jack under the front and rear subframes and lowered it down. I managed to forget the rear engine ground, but otherwise it dropped easily. I have a small garage so I was trying to avoid adding a lift to my tool collection. If any of you local people wouldn't mind me using yours for a week or so that would be fantastic; I need to check around to see if anywhere will rent me one. She found a great love for the breaker bar. Sandy the labrador was supervising the whole proceeding. She was extremely concerned about what was happening. All dropped!

Should have put the 8" 2x4 in the control arms so you could roll the skate out..

Congrats on the separation. I'm chassis #170 and just dropped mine today so you are ahead of my timeline.

zeitgeist It's a race! I hope I win! Pulled the rear subframe out today. Separating the PPF was a pain.
