Right, now the worst of the weather has passed up here in Cumbria its time to get back on with the build It looks like I am going to be moving from one end of the country to the other very soon and worried about transporting the XS in the current state she is in :s soo, top of the list is: Seat fitted Battery fitted Wiring loom is in but need to tidy away Brakes brakes brakes!! after that she should pretty much drive on to the trailer...... (He says hopefully....) Main question that I really need help with: How do you mount the mx5 seats in an XS? There just doesn't seem to be the support for the rails.... and the way that the side of the car bows in at the back i have to fit the seats further forwards and only seems to be the thin floor that I can bolt to... I am thinking about getting some box section and fabricating a bracket around the current cross bar that is there but this seems a bit excessive and haven't seen anyone else do this...... Cheers for any help

Do the seats not fit the same as exocet or is the chassis different to that ? Where are you moving to sorry just being nosey I have just about got drivers seat in got the rear bolts in and tightened. Have had to remove the tilt mechanism from the side and fabricated a plate to replace it out of some of the left over ally but as soon as I applied any backwards pressure it just buckled. Have now doubled up the thickness but still buckles.... Got some 4mm steel flat bar kicking about that I might have a play with tomorrow. Problem is that there is no clearance between the seat and one of the side bars so may have to consider 2mm steel plate instead... I know its not a big job but quite a sense of achievement for my first afternoon in the garage this year! If I can keep up this pace I'll be finished in no time :s Moving from West Cumbria to South East Kent. Pretty sure its the furthest anyone could move within England lol

We had to modify our runners in our build it seems like our seats seemed to yo yo in and out but it was worth it in the end You may come across more MEV owners in the Kent area

Its like most the car - So much measuring 2, 3, 4 times then drill/cut once! Its the plate on side that I need to have a think about... Hopefully! Even if there isn't, I imagine it's a lot easier to join in the meets and road-trips from the south than it is from up here Whats the best way to upload pic to here now as mine are still broken....

Had another pretty productive day Started off getting the seat mounting finished off, and then fixing the buckling plate on the side of the chair: Now the seat was fixed in position I got the steering column tightened up in the right place, Need to create a bracket between steering column and pedals, then moved on to the wiring loom. It's all roughly where I want it, I think... just need to create some sort of harness tray. Im thinking of creating something that both houses the wiring harness but also doubles up as a dash of sorts... next I moved on to the handbrake: yeah, they're not going through..... like so many things with this build, what should be a simple task just doesn't happen first time, out with the amazing xmas tree drill bit and reasonably quickly had them through. Got away with not having to drill for the handbrake cables, don't know if I got lucky or whether I have done it wrong....? Moved on to the radiator: Need to look into radiator mounting a bit before I start fabricating brackets, with the nose cone being so narrow i'm not sure if it is going to fit :s Lil man came out to check on the progress
