Hi builtityourself,
just noticed this post, so apologies for the slow response.
RE Loom extension. Yes I extended the loom considerably, by about 1.5 meters in parts. I've had no issues with this. I did use identical wire weights and where wires were twisted pairs I was careful to make the extension using recovered twisted pairs from unused parts of the loom. All my extension joints are soldered and glue shrink wrapped to avoid corrosion issues at the joints.
Overall the ECU to key transponder and the dash pod is about 2.5 Meters

Hi turbo2015,
RE Cupra engine, I'll run it in standard format at circa 240 BHP to start with but expect to chip it to circa 280 BHP as that is possible without getting overly expensive. At those power levels it should be reliable and plenty enough to test my skills.

Daydreamer, how is the engine swap going? I had a Cupra like that chipped to 300bhp, it was a great car. I quiet fancy trying to lever one into the Rocket chassis!

daydreamer how have you progressed on this over the last 4(!) years?

Mighty slowly is the answer. The reason being redundancy , new job at a start-up that quickly ran out cash making me unemployed for a second time but for the last year I have been in a good , stable job. It's really good to paid reliably at the month end and get expenses paid promptly. Working for an under funded start-up meant monthly pay often being months late and expenses being even later. Thankfully that is all a distant memory now.
The re-build is a co-operation with my brother in Scotland and the last 2 years has been a nightmare for travelling.
Time for my brother and I has been consumed providing 24 hour care for our 90 year old father who developed dementia after a stoke a year ago. For the moment my brother is entirely tied up providing that care. I was helping last year but at the moment domestic obligations make that difficult.
We have not given up, it just that life is getting in the way.

Good to hear you haven't given up. Time causes knock on issues, as when you do find some time after a break, you find you spend it remembering what the next step was, once you do the time has run out! I think that's an age thing for me mostly!

daydreamer, I'm sorry to hear that, on all levels, we love our kits but life does come first! At least some of the difficulties should be easing now. buildityourself, its ready to go: ECU built & bench tested, base map/settings set up, piggy back looms ready to plug in, fuse box end done, brackets etc made & installed. Just got to take the plunge and do it!
