Double check before you buy a steering wheel quick release, they push the wheel towards you so may be an issue if you are already snug.

I'm looking at buying seats and a steering wheel as I want to crack on getting everything mocked up so I can send the chassis for powder coating. I have decided on a Sparco 300mm steering wheel but am now stuck for seats. I was considering the GRP seats package from KitPartsDirect.com but wanted to speak to someone to confirm a few things. I called their number and got an 'invalid number' message, I checked and dialed several times. I called another number of their website and was given a mobile number by a receptionist (who says they are nothing to do with KitPartsDirect.com) so I called that number an get the 'invalid number' message again. Plus I tried to place an order online and you can't pay online, you have to send a cheque. I don't own a cheque book Does anyone know if they have gone under? if so is there anywhere else that I can buy the seats package below. GRP Padded Seat Setup Discount_PackI managed to strip my engine and have sent a few bit for powder coating etc. I am using a company to powder coat the rocker cover in a dark red and then carbon fibre dip it. The effect looks amazing.. red carbon fibre. I haven't seen it anywhere else before so looking forward to getting that back. I have cut out the floor and am fixing with 4mm rivnuts when it's back from powder coating. I borrowed this idea from kiwicanfly I knew the focus seats would come in handy for something. I have drilled the holes but won't be fitting rivnuts untill back from powder coating. cdn image serverupload image sites

Oh I have also made a small floor for the front too. I will be covering both with carbon fibre sheet as the aluminium was scratched to death, even with the protective coating.

I took my engine to be reconditioned today, they are completely reconditioning everything, regrinding valves & seats, head skim, camshaft regrind, crank regrind with new bearings, new piston rings and rebore, all new seals and gaskets etc. the cost £1,350 + vat. I am taking my time with the build and want to use quality parts only etc so didn't want the engine packing up after the lengthy build. It had better be like a new one at that price.
For 'IVA' I will be buying a NEW gearbox so I can put it on a new plate.

I know the Honda engine is a good one BUT..
A new 1.8 zetec is £700 and a new 2.0 zetec is £850, these prices include delivery and come with a certificate stating they are new. Also have a flywheel and new clutch fitted to them.
You will be close to £1600 for your Type R recon.
With 220BHP and a nice high revving V-Tech it will be worth it.

I was thinking the same, a new 2.0 ford engine with bike carbs will give about 170 bhp and come in at almost £2k. I get an extra 50BHP for free and the extra revving of the VTECH. Plus it's easier (and cheaper) to get close to 300BHP with the Type R engine than the focus engine. I get the VAT back as I'm buying everything through my business.. that's already saved me the price of the engine recon!

Check re the Iva though as I believe amateur builds have different requirements to professional builds and that might be an issue...

Check re the Iva though as I believe amateur builds have different requirements to professional builds and that might be an issue... It's just a recon of the engine making it 'New' spec using genuine Honda parts so shouldn't be an issue. I will check though cheers.

I meant re the vat and the business buying the parts etc. loads have had work done so that isn't the issue I'd be concerned about.I
