My Rocket build is up for sale again. I spoke to the new prospective buyer Antnicuk who is a very decent bloke with lot's of car and kitcar experience. He's looking to track day the car, which I would love to see as that was the main reason for the build and it was track day focused. Hopefully he will buy it and post some updated pics and posts on here soon.

and the ongoing story on my old Rocket continues.. it's now found another new home, this time in France! The new owner messaged me to ask about the engine which has been changed since I sold it. Apparently now it only revs to 5,500 rpm (9,000 rpm when I had it) and it not very quick. Mind you the new owner only paid £8k for it which is a huge bargain as I had well over £20k in it and I sold it for £15k. Still only covered 350 miles. What a bargain for a no expenses spared build!

I finally picked up my custom made drive shafts. An absolute bargain at £180 for the pair. They were obviously steel when I picked them up so I primer, painted and laquered them. While I had the rear assembly off I decided to fit the rear wing stays too. I measured the stays to be 30mm from centre of the stay to the tyre (this is the same as front) and I used a couple of pieces of ally on the tyre to space it. I actually had to make 15mm spacers (not shown in the photo) after I had fitted them as the when I fitted the wing it pushed the wing to far out. I have used side pods so it's crucial the wings line up with the side pods (see below pic) Then came the job of fitting the shafts. I had a unique problem as I have Honda gearbox and Ford CV joints. Which CV boots the use.. as the Honda shafts are thinner but solid, compared to the Ford shafts which are hollow. My custom shafts are the same width as the original Honda shafts so the focus CV boots would not fit. I opted for universal CV boots which stretch quite easily. I then fitted the Tri-bearings and the CV joint. That's a very messy job with all the grease but got it all put together Hi Carl, My name is Austin from Blackpool and I have just picked my fourth kit car. It's an 2014 RTR MEV Rocket with an MK 1 RS Rotrex Supercharged engine. Is there any chance you could give me the contact details for the chap in Maltby near Doncaster as need some very strong Drive Shaft making. I would message you directly but this my first post.

Hi I sold my Kits and gave everything to the new owner which includes the driveshaft guys number. His name is Tony and his contact details are in my build diary somewhere on here. I don't time to check for it just now but feel free to look through for it.
I hope this helps.

Hi Carl
I am Dave Great build diary. I have only just found it and read it all. I have ordered a sonic 7 from Angus and will be building it with a turbo h22z1 engine. I am going to use the Honda hubs and wheels.. I like the photos of your engine and gearbox mounts as I was wondering how to do those. Mine is going to be automatic so my wife can drive it as well.
Cheers Dave

Cheers Dave Hi Dave, great choice for the engine. I chose the engine and donor before collecting my chassis from RTR just before they closed down, in fact I believe mine was the last chassis out of the workshop. I delivered the engine and gearbox to RTR before picking up my chassis and they mocked up and welded the engine mount brackets for me before collecting my chassis. They used the standard vibratec mounts that they use on the focus engine I think, plus the standard Honda mount at the back of the engine. I will be watching your build with interest as I am looking for a donor now for my next project with the Honda K24 engine using Honda hubs etc. If I can help in any way please just let me know and good luck with your build

So it seems my old Rocket is for sale yet again. This time almost 15,000 euros as it's in France. The seller has placed a link from the add to my build on here which is not a problem but I would like to point out that the engine is not the engine that I fitted during the build. I heard it had a (used) short block (bottom part of the engine) fitted shortly after I sold it. Last I heard it was very down on power and only revved to 5k revs (9k revs when I had it) so if you are looking at buying it please note that I am not responsible. Good luck to whoever buys it and please keep us informed on where it goes.
