Part of the reason for breaking might have been that you levered from one side only, they really need to have a tap wrench on them so you are applying the torque straight through the centre of the tool and no sideways force.

'Top Quality' tools though "apparently"! Mind you I did use a 2 foot torque wrench with about 1200 lbs pf pressure on it That will be the reason See if you can grab whats left with a set of locking pliers & turn it to the right, to release it. At least then it won't still be hanging in their. If you can't, at least grind it off so there are no sharp spots that you will no doubt end up leaving a lot of DNA on Normally, when using an "easy out" you'll need to apply heat. Reality is, if it is siezed tight enough to snap the fastener, then sure as sh!t, an "easy out" which is small enough to go down the inside of it, isn't going to be strong enough to undo it on its own. Also, when buying "Easy Out" kits, make sure you get the ones with left hand fluted drill bits. Alot of the time, the broken fastener will come out on the drill bit.

Yes I didn't use heat, which is probably the main reason I couldn't get it out. I have now ground it flat and will just leave it in. There just wasn't enough room to get a drill in so I just went at it with the easy out tap. I am now in the process of buying a Revotec Electronic Fan Controller - so that I can set my fans to kick in when ever I like. It can be set to anything you like from 70 - 120 degrees. This is the one I picked. www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/fan-controllers-thermostats/revotec-electronic-fan-controller

I finally got my PhotoBucket working, here is the snapped sensor. You can see the second sensor in the pic too. And after I had used the 'Easy Out' So that will be staying in the engine block. I just got a call from DVLA. Apparently my engine recon reciept wasn't enough, it didn't have the wording ' Reconditioned to as new standard' which it must. So I have contacted the engine recon company and asked for a letter stating that. They are great mechanics but rubbish at admin so fingers crossed. The words should be "RE- MANUFACTURED AS NEW"..(so i was advised by the guy who registered mine )

The lady from DVLA told me the wording but... I am having problems. I have contacted the company who reconditioned my engine 4 times by phone and I've even been in to see them. The guys just keeps moaning about how busy he is, if he just did it when I first called it would have saved him time answering the phone and giving me bull$hit excuses. I have emailed DVLA this morning and asked if there is anyway around this, as the guy is useless. I even gave DVLA his telephone number. Failing that I am going to go and sit there while he does it. I'm right in the mood for arguments this morning as I'm dealing with First Choice holidays and a complaint I put in requesting a refund for an excursion which they have now refused.. grrrrrr

Is it not possible to type the letter yourself and get the man to sign it?

Is it not possible to type the letter yourself and get the man to sign it? It has to be on his letter headed paper. I asked him if he could give me a sheet of his letter headed paper and I can type it but he refused. DVLA actually called him yesterday and he swore he would email it to me yesterday, but today still nothing. I'm going in to see him again today, I'm either leaving with the letter or leaving in handcuffs, and him on a stretcher!

Yes he did the work as I had it back to him for a knocking - which turned out to be very noisy tappets. I have just been to see him, I'm happy to report that I have my receipt and he has kept all of his teeth He was actually very apologetic for messing me about, maybe he visits this forum and read my post DVLA say it will just be a few days now, so I might get the rocket put back together and take it for a spin.

DVLA just emailed me. My Rocket is now registered so I can drive it. But I can't as I am waiting to get my exhaust back. I am having the threaded nut part which takes the o2 sensors welded in. I should get the exhaust back on Thursday so I may have a short blast on Saturday if it's not raining or Baltic freezing

I finally got my log book back - took about 12 days after DVLA registered it, no idea why? So this weekend I finally took it out for a shake down run. It was very cold and the new exhaust is quite noisy but the mrs and I really enjoyed it. It's amazing how many people look and little kids waving. Here are a few pics as it was yesterday.

Hi all I've just ordered my rocket kit. I'm using the civic type r engine & gear box. Any information & help would be much appreciated. Cheers Jezz. Hi Jezz, you will need a few custom parts, lot's of time and deep pockets. It's much more expensive to build using anything other than the focus engine which is what the kit was designed for, but it's soooooo worth it . Have a good read through my build, I have detailed all the problems I faced. You are using a different engine to me but if it's not a focus engine these are the bits you will need. 1) Engine mounts - This will have to be custom welded to your chassis as the mounts are different to the focus engine and box. 2) Drive Shafts - these need to be focus on the hub end and Honda on the gearbox end so you will need to have these custom made. I have a contact for these if you need it. 3) Wiring Loom - you will have to make your own wiring loom as the kit providers don't offer a Honda one and there is no documentation on here for it. This will involve lots of internet research and possibly contacting Honda UK. I would provider you with wiring diagrams but yours is different to mine. 4) Exhaust - you will probably need to have a custom down pipe made. 5) Gear lever cables - mine are 4m long, again I have a contact for that. 6) Engine & Anciliries - obviously support on here is very limited for the Honda engine as there are only two or three ever made in different variations. Deano is an ex Honda mechanic and he owns the other Type R Rocket. if he doesn't know it it's not worth knowing. He's extremely helpful and a great guy too I'm sure he will be along to offer advice. Don't bother buying a focus as a donor, the only bits you need off that are steering column, steering cowl and front hubs (& uprights if you are not using Rally Design uprights) and brake calipers & disks (unless you use willwood calipers and new disks). Then you need a Mk2 Focus handbrake lever. None of the other bits will fit your car. Good luck and let me know if you need any help. Where in the country are you?
