Progress over the last few days. Haven't been doing a daily post as I've been multitasking work, another project and lonely wife.
Started off with getting the edge trim installed around the windshield and gas tank cover.
My fuel filer hose STILL doesn't line up. Ordered a SS 45deg pipe which will hopefully bring it into the correct position so I can finally finish that up.
Also got the front fender mounts installed.
That mount which bolts on behind the wheel bearing is easy to install but very very flimsy. Sorry to say... This won't last very long. It'll be good enough to get me past inspection though.
I will powder coat and final install them this week hopefully.
Also put all the finishing touches on the extra wiring bits. Things like the USB charger, fog light system and loom up some of the extra bits. Final loom will happen after I've confirmed absolutely everything works.
If this sight intimidates you, shoot me a message. Soon I will start making whole Exocet harnesses to sell.
I kinda wish I would have mounted the engine bay fuse box in the cab. It looks clean where it is except if I get stuck on wet roads guess where all the water is going to splash coming off the front wheel?
For the fog light setup, I decided to sell the whole stock setup on eBay to recoup the $$ lost from buying multiple headlight mounts. Since I had so many left over relays and my fogs are simple LEDs I fabricated a new setup.
The switch and harness are from here:
www.ebay.com/itm/131221850676%20www.ebay.com/itm/281618159247%20It's wired like this:
C - comes from the thin red/black stripe wire that powers the parking lights (also called TNS). This means the fogs will only be on if the parking lights are on.
NC - removed this wire and its not used
NO and + are wired together.
- goes to chassis ground.
The + and - operate the light inside the switch. Wiring the NO and + together will turn the light on when the switch is on.
Power to the fogs still comes from the fog fuse. That wire goes from the fuse, to the relay, to the lights. The fog switch toggles the relay on and off. Easy setup recycling unused wires and relays from the donor.
Final count down of what's left with the car before registration:
*Powder coat fender mounts
*Install headlights
*Swap out rear diff drain plug gasket (found out that's what is leaking, not the diff itself)
*Finish fuel filler setup (wishing I just would have gone aftermarket with this instead of rigging up the stock one)
*Final wire loom
*Install ground rivet for future gauge installation
*re-powdercoat front control arms (brake fluid ruined them)
*finish exhaust wrap
*install another exhaust mount
The end is near!
