Well got a bit more time in the garage this weekend so decided to to start again with the radiator mounting so I could make sure the fan was better secured. The fixings that came with it were pants, it suggested that the fan should be held on by passing a few tie wraps through the fins and securing at the back. Decided to go with something a little sturdier but still easy to remove. I now also have my inner panels in place that will ensure the radiator is protected from any stones or crap that could potentially be thrown up and enter through the holes I have swagged into the external panels Im also hoping that by having the panels inside it will help direct and force air into the rad rather than it escaping around the sides. The Swagged holes behind it then will hopefully aid the escape of the air.

I had initially fixed in place the gear lever / shifter from the 2.0L donor car that I had. I took this out and have now got a Mk2 Mondeo shifter. Was about to put this in yesterday but looking at the shift pattern and the way the mechanism at the bottom moves when selecting gear, It is identical to the 2.0L focus shifter.
Is this right?

I'm the same mate good weeks and bad with progress. Yes, I know, I'd love to spend time in the garage daily but family and work don't always allow it. Gonna be even worse soon as we are about to move house and my new place doesn't have a big enough garage. I'm having a workshop built as soon as we move in but I'm afraid the car will have to go into storage for at least 4 weeks. Gutted Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

A couple of questions for anyone that used the Venhill brake line kits supplied by RTR. I have started to mock up the brake lines, the front is fine but I'm struggling with the rear. The lines supplied when connected to the T joint are long enough to reach the rear brake calipers on both sides if I go straight across but if I try to route them around the chassis they are about 20cm short on both sides. My questions are 1) Has anyone else who has used the kit supplied had this problem? 2) Is it OK to joint two shorter hoses together with some form of coupler? 3) Anyone know where I would get a purpose made straight coupler for joining the two lines in the pic below

Further update for today, finally got around to fitting the accelerator pedal. Nothing special just fabricated a bracket similar to most others. Looks so much better than the RTR one though. Pedal plate still needs welding on to the arm though, so it will be level when I'm done

Speak to venhill direct, I had the same issue and rather than argue with said, bought replacements the correct length for bout £17 Sent from my SM-N9005 using proboards

Cheers, glad it's not just me then. I reckon I need two lines about 120cm long to sort the rear lines.

Decided to change my gear selector again today. I initially fixed the donor lever onto the chassis as I wasn't aware that the pattern would be reversed. I then got a Mk2 Mondeo shifter and fitted this instead. I've now taken it out and converted it to the Joker's quick shifter kit. So it's now back in place (3rd time lucky) and I think this will be the best solution.
I have also just ordered a Mk2 focus handbrake assembly. I have fitted the standard Mk1 lever from the donor but having looked at all the build diaries I'm not sure I want to be working with different pulleys to get the cable in line. When it arrives a little bit of cutting and welding should see it fit without the need for the pulleys.
