I'm still looking at getting a Sonic. Went to see Paul at RTR on Wednesday and he took me for a ride in their Sonic. Feels like motorbike speed which is exactly what I'm after Still thinking about colours though. I like the silver and black they have on their new colour scheme but I'm thinking of introducing some red to it as well. A bit like 2010 McLaren F1 colours somehow.Either a solid red or a metallic.

where did you get your accelerator pedel assembly from i have the brake and clutch ass but no acc pedal can you help me ? Hi, I dont' think Willwood make an accelerator pedal assembley. A Rocket owner (Joker on the forum) designed a pedal unit to match the Willwood brake and clutch assembly. RTR now manufacture these so give Paul or Leighton a call. Hope this helps.

I have had a bit of a concern over the last few months since fitting the driveshafts. This has been down to two reasons. Firstly due to me fitting a Raceline baffled sump, there is no provisions for the driveshaft bearing bracket or fitting holes in the sump. This means I have had to make a billet bracket and modify the sump to take the bracket. Not as easy as it sounds as the driveshaft has to run perfectly true and level from the gearbox to the bearing in the bracket. After my second attempt at having a billet aluminum bracket made - it now all fits perfectly and I am now at ease Secondly, I was not totally happy with how far the tri-pod bearing was sitting in the cup on full travel up and down. The engine and gearbox are as far over as possible to the right (looking from the back) with regards were the engine mounts are fitted, and the driveshatfs are level front to back (or as close as they can be). To rectify this I tried to slide the whole driveshaft out from the gear box (could do this as my driveshaft bearing bracket is movable - OEM brackets are fixed position) but this needed about 6mm and then I was concerned about the gearbox end. So I have gone down the Sonic build guide route and added 2 x M32 flat washers between the rear of the hub and shaft. Now seems to fit perfectly. Hope this helps any others who may have this issue, as it's been a right pain in the arse for me ;D Will add some pics later......................... As promised:

Charge cooler now fitted. Has been designed to fit in the space behind the drivers seat under the cover, which I have had made in carbon fibre. Petrol tank and Charge cooler in situe: And with the cover on :

When the seats are bolted in, the hole area behind the seats is very dark and bland, so had the seat backs painted in the Mclaren reflective chrome paint: It does the job well of relecting the carbon from the charger/petrol tank cover

Hi Jon,
The Rocket looks amazing, when are you planning to go to IVA? Really looking forward to seeing your build, I guess that will be at Stoneleigh. Not much progress on my build, just back off holiday so hope to get back on with my build at the weekend.
Regards Jim

I am hoping to IVA the car early next year, ready for all the shows - Stoneleigh being the first - and all MEV events. Still have a fair bit to do but looking to be on target for then. Are you aiming for Stoneleigh also ?? Some good builds going on over the past 18 months so I am hoping we will all make a good MEV gathering at the shows in 2012
