Must admit the build is getting a little out of hand but I am pleased with it's progress - albeit steady !! Rotrex have only done this with one 2.0 Zetec engine before with the lesser set-up which was producing 310Bhp/250 ftlb at 1.5 bar of boost using their 30-94 charger kit. This was for a front mounted engine and the bracket for that car will not fit the Rocket - hence needing one to be designed. I have made previsions in the engine build already (machining work described) to make an easy further mod of about another 40bhp/20ftlb torque. The engine mods will then be maxed out for supercharging, unless you want to hunt for little amounts of BHP. To gain more power will mean a bigger charger. The weakest point on the engine at the moment for 8000 rpm is the crank - maximum this will take is 500bhp With what I have done so far, I will be happy if the engine reaches 270Bhp/200ftlb with a nice relation in power to torque gain, but would be nice to get over 300bhp if it happens, which is highly likely.

We are building a trick exhaust for Mr Mabbs at the mo and will post a pic when complete but why we are waiting here is a picture of the carbon bonnet that arrived recently. [/img]

Hi there. How's the Rotrex work going? Bit cheeky of me but once they have the bracket made up I'm after buying the same setup. Thx

Very pleased with the bonnet As this was the biggest carbon piece on the car, I wanted it to be good and the finish is better than expected for such a large piece. The original GRP bonnet weighs in at just under 6kg - this bonnet when it came out of the mold was 900g . To get a good surface, it then had to be UV lacquered which doubled the weight but still under 2kg in total and still very strong. The vinyl was apparently a nightmare to make. Due to the fact the original bonnet was hand made - this then transfers over to the tooling and then any parts that are taken from the tooling, so unfortunately its not exactly symmetrical - or not symmetrical enough to do one side of the 'V' and then reverse the image to do the other.

Hi there. How's the Rotrex work going? Bit cheeky of me but once they have the bracket made up I'm after buying the same setup. Thx The supercharger bracket is coming along nicely and should hopefully have a nice billet aluminum unit completed soon to check for fitment. It has then got to be checked for alignment and tested so that it runs 100%. Will keep you posted.

Whilst the car was away I had some front wing stays made. St.St, and fully adjustable:
