After the warmer weather we have been having , we and some others in warmer climates have noticed the Burgman engine can run warmer than it would in the scooter due to it location next the engine and in front of the ignition coil.
But in extreme heat slow speeds and town traffic it will run warm as the air flow is not forced through and can bypass the radiator, I have sometimes noticed it can start to run slightly lumpy and you can feel it splutter slightly as you accelerate,
After some testing of some ideas we have produced the following scoop which we have been trying the last few weeks, and it works well
We can supply the Air scoop @ £40 Plus P+P - (please note if we don't have you colour GRP it will be supplied in either Black or White and will require painting / covering)
Air Scoop Fitted
Air Scoop Mounting
Qty 2 Rivnuts Installed
Simple P Clip around the tube - (supplied)
Air Scoop Cut to size some edge trim for protection - (The air slot will need to be cut)
As you can see this fits well and cover the majority of the radiator which helps force the air though the radiator, this works well even at low speeds you can see it reduce the temperature after being stood still in traffic, However in busy stop start town traffic there is no air to scoop! the fan will control this but to prevent it getting up to that temperature we have been testing a thermal switch used in electronics which has a lower temperature setting which has been bonded to the radiator and wired in parallel to the original switch, therefore the fan cuts in sooner and reduces the temperature further as it operates from 75-90C - these can be purchased from RS Components / Maplins etc,,
