Hey Rick, I'm enjoying your thread. I'm here in Vegas and in the process of finding a miata to build.. Maybe this isn't the right forum but I was wondering how you're going about the licensing and dmv stuff.. I couldn't find an option to private message you (new here) but feel free to pm me, thanks in advance!

My biggest worry on the whole build, muffler time. Never liked my spec Miata exhaust, too raspy, my daily/autocross Miata, a little to noisy on the freeway. I wanted something that sounded good at high rpms, but still talk to the passenger. Funny when you get old, noise sometimes ranks above horsepower?
Here is what I got from Performance Muffler, he sourced all the pieces and installed for less that $500 in one day.
It is perfect for me. The workmanship is great, everything is straight and solid. I love the sound. Might have to have a heat shield made with the Mazda logo waterjet cut out of the middle?
Other views. and a resonator. It dips just a bit low under the axle, but should not hit on speed bumps! no time added to the build, as I just had to drop it off at the shop and then spend some time test driving...

That looks great, looks like the same thing as the Enthuzacar offering from Exomotive, but much less expensive. Great job!

Tires and wheels arrived! 15 x 8 inch rims, 20mm offset with sm7 205/50-15 Hoosiers . Yes, my back yard is dirt, so you can see I test drove it. Amazing, not one wheel weight, only one was even close to taking a 1/4 ounce weight!
update (wheels are 15x8 TRMotorsport C1 Bright Silver from tirerack) nice price and look like some of the other expensive wheels too!

Any chance you can post a picture of the rear wheel/tire to frame clearance? I've heard that a +20 can be tight with a 15x8...

The exhaust came out awesome... I agree on the noise part. A resonator and cat will hopefully tone mine down to sane levels.

Muffler is a magnaflow, for a Camaro, (one in, two outs) the resonator is also a Magnaflow 18 inch. 2 1/4 inch.

Sema show finds!
Found a tool to straighten lines, wish I had it when I did my lines.
And found these cool looking fenders on a street rod.

Another autocross under out belt, this was the Subie Invasion at the Silverton hotel. Let one Subaru beat us, but it was their event and they let us non Subaru's run with them, so it was only fair:) Felt like we had a amusement park ride, people were lined up wanting rides!
Yes, tire rub. I started with very low pressure, but got close to stock weight settings as the day went along. Ordered wheel spacers from Summit auto parts. Also disconnect the rear sway bar as we were lifting the rear wheel and still do not have a limited slip diff. Best time was after the bar was removed and I spun the car since I picked up more speed into the 180 degree turn:) Next run I was ready!
The night before the radiator started to leak, so looks like a new aluminum radiator is in the works before track day next weekend.

My attempt at a windshield before track day. Just want a little something in case I loose a hose or coolant since I do not have a hood. Might keep a rock or a bug off my chest too. $135 dollars and comes off with 4 bolts.
