Queries before purchase. Help please.

I had toyed with fitting an electric aerial with a flag on top (like a quad bike might have, or sand rail) for slower B road driving. Something that catches your eye, but make it retract for motorway use.

I think that good running lights & a bright vivid high contrast colour scheme might be the answer. I would say that your white/red achieved that admirably. My Volvo XC90 has dipped beam on all the time which certainly does help & I always ride my bikes with the headlight on.

Around here lots of the roads/ lanes have high grass banks. You frequently get the impression that you can see anything that is coming beyond the next corner but in fact very low things are hidden. We have a couple of those recumberant trikes locally - bicycles where the rider is very low & laid back - but as trikes they are wider. I wouldn't want one. very small, very low, invisible, vulnerable. We also have a guy with one of those motorcycle front VW trikes. He flies an enormous Confederate flag. Can't miss that!!!

Are special deals on tR1ke kits or options generally offered at shows? I am thinking of Stoneleigh in a few weeks time.

Hi I have just started my build. I have checked the box of the brakes I received from RTR, it is very vague but it says they are for 10mm discs. It also says under model ul4 or ll4, it is very poor handwriting. I think it is UL4 as I think the model is ultra light 4 pot.

(I think they are ultra light radial). I was going to try and get Tarox or AP just to be different. In the end I settled on the HISPEC in Gold, If RTR supply them then you know they are right.  I didn't want drilled discs (in case of cracking) but I was told that was all I could have, so I settled for them, they are just in plain white boxes so I can't give you the detail. You get to choose between EBC standard or Green Pads at extra cost. I went for Green.

I have attached a pic of my callipers in gold and black. I am having an Orange trike with black frame, hope it all looks ok.

Nasty surprises I guess can depend on your donor. So far for me, I have discovered that my radiator isn't the best and although functional I will probably replace it. Also, as mine is fuel injected so I will have to make a bespoke swirl pot with petrol pump fitted in it, I wasn't expecting that to be honest. But the great bit is that thanks to the guys on here you get help and advise for such things.

This is optional of course but you may want to factor in some cost for a service kit on your donor engine. This is all readily available and reasonably cheap though.

Thank you for that. Buying the donor carries the same risks  as buying any second hand item. I know very little about swirl pots. I will do a search.

Did you buy the lighting electrical pack? Does anybody have a photo or a list of what is included? Is it just the headlight units & rear light units fitted on the demo cars?

No didn't buy lighting pack. I thought I would choose everything myself when the time comes. My options were.

Kliktronic with paddles and flat shifter.
Orange gel coat - Purely for the visibility of it on the road.
The brakes as described + Hi Spec Handbrake
Quick rack steering
Powerflex suspension bushes
Electric revearse

I don't know what is in the light kit. The Swirl Pot is only an issue as I have a fuel injected bike with a fuel pump in the petrol tank.
