I won't be there. I don't have a trailer and it's just too far for me towing a caravan. Have a good one.

Just curious - what is the reason for trailered car restrictions?

Hi All, To answer some of your questions... Kevin - you are correct, the 'no kit cars on trailers' thing is for the free entry. If you want to trailer a non road legal car to the event and display it/use it on track that is no problem at all. As for noise limits, it is a maximum of 100dBA for all vehicles, regardless of the type of engine Cheers, Neil. I thought the day was run as whats called an ACTION DAY, the regs for this says. Cars 100dba at 4500rpm Bike engined cars 105dba at 3/4 max rpm

Just curious - what is the reason for trailered car restrictions? As per Stoneleigh it is to encourage people to drive to the show in their Kitcars to make an attractive display car park.

*THE INFORMATION IN THIS POST IS NO LONGER CORRECT - PLEASE CONTINUE READING THREAD FOR UPDATE*Hi All, To answer some of your questions... Cars 100dba at 4500rpm Bike engined cars 105dba at 3/4 max rpm Hi Kevin, I'm guessing you've seen this in our Action Day FAQs which we've just noticed is incorrect. Many thanks for drawing our attention to it, it has now been corrected. BECs are tested static at 3/4 max revs but must still be 100 dBA or less. The reason for this is that at 4500 revs on a static test they could pass and then all the trackside drive-by meters record far higher levels as soon as they are out on track and revving much higher. Testing at 3/4 maximum revs gives us a better indication as to whether or not they will pass the drive by meters. If you are not too far from us we are always happy to test you when we have a noise test official here - give us a call and we can let you know when to come down. Alternatively, and this is by no means an exact science, Maplin sell a noise meter for £30. I've not tried it myself but have heard it is of reasonable quality/accuracy and will at least give you an indication of the ball park you are in. I've not heard very good things about the iphone apps - some reports of wild inaccuracies. Testing is done at a 45 degree angle, 0.5 meters from the tip of the exhaust (each exhaust outlet is tested if you have more than one). Noise is always the hot topic but keeping within our strict limits ensures we can continue to host motor racing, trackdays and events like KitFest.

Just FYI - I had my standard K-Series Elise noise tested and it read 108 dBA at 4500 rpm! Perplexed by this the official asked if the cat had been removed, which it had. I removed the decat section and replaced it with a silenced de-cat pipe. The silencer wasn't very big at all so was skeptical that it would make much difference. I had it retested and it read 89 dBA! The difference on the noise meter was enormous yet the difference to the naked ear was barely noticable.

Thanks for the reply Neil,
I will have to use the standard r1 complete system to have any hope of meeting 100dba at 8800rpm
I have the use of a decent quality and recently calibrated meter, so no problem now I know the target.
Regarding the use of a trailer....500 mile round trip with no backup vehicle, i'm keen but not stupid.

Hi Testing bike engines at this high revs it will be difficult to get a standard system to pass let alone anything with any bit of fruitiness as I know a bog standard GSXR600 is 97db at the normal revs. I can see some grumpy faces coming on the day :-)

Hi Testing bike engines at this high revs it will be difficult to get a standard system to pass let alone anything with any bit of fruitiness as I know a bog standard GSXR600 is 97db at the normal revs. I can see some grumpy faces coming on the day :-) We have plenty of regulars at our trackdays in BECs - if you look at all the local airfield venues, plus Donington, Bedford, Thruxton, etc they have similar or even lower limits so the reality is that unless you can afford to do Brands and Silverstone regularly or are prepared to travel even further afield, a system which passes a 100dBA static test is a must have. Most BECs have longer exhaust systems than the bikes they came from so there is usually somewhere to add some silencing. Merlin stock a huge range of these and they can take up to 9dBA off and are very quick and easy to fit. www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/merlin-mild-steel-racing-muffler-m-ex-muff-4

Kevin you can borrow my original can if you don't have one? I only need it for Blyton mate, I will be fitting my short loud system once I have done Blyton.

Just a quick update: We've scrapped the clause about kit cars on trailers. If your kit car arrives on a trailer you will be eligible for free admission. NB - Trailers and tow cars may not be parked in display parking, club stand or camping areas.
Web booking system will be in testing by the end of this week so should be live next week. Many thanks for your patience - we want to make sure everything works properly before taking any money from anyone!

Free for trailer is a nice gesture thanks, though for me also irrelevant with a std road exhaust at 108dba.
The db killer insert for sale on the Merlin shop is identical to the one I have, with this fitted the db went up by 2. The end can baffle they sell is not practical for my car and they also state a decrease of 0 to 9 db.....so this means a possible 0 reduction. great.

Unfortunately the layout of a tR1ke is identical to the motorbike from a engine and exhaust point of view so I don't think we will be able to meet the DB figure, I will still come over though so I can have a look around everybody else's and see you all having some fun on track. Andy If I'm not doing a track session do I still need to book in or just turn up?

Still need to book in by either online pre-registration or as one of the vehicles on your owners club stand booking form - it's free whichever you do. Real shame about the tR1ke noise levels - does anyone on here track a tR1ke? As at 108 dBA that will count you out of everywhere in the UK as far as I'm aware. Just a thought - are you measuring the reading as dBA, not dB? I don't know what the difference is, I just know there is a difference!
