I am thinking if I can get a kit cheap enough that I can do some mods to it to fit my needs. I want Burgman 650 power in a trike like this.
Even if Scott could send me an unwelded kit, I am a certified welder/fitter.
Thanks, Dave J

Contact Dave Cox in Texas. He is on the forum. See if he is willing to sell his. There are only 3 in the US and I know two of us are not selling... You can also contact the dealer in Atlanta to see what can be worked out for you.

Hi Dave,
We have looked into modification for the 650cc but it never got very far, the problem being the dramatic changes that will need to be made due to the separate swing arm which make it longer, if you go longer you need to go wider!! Also that will upset the weight balance to which as standard is nearly 50/50 with a driver and the 400cc, the extra weight of the 650cc would not be worth the effort in my opinion,
As I say the 400cc has more than enough, I'm getting mine rebuilt with a slight rebore just to give it that little extra poke, I challenge anyone to drive one and say they want it to go faster!!!!
Eco-Exo-R Chassis kits can be supplied, with the engine mounts not fitted, - Speak to Kevin @ Exomotive.
Cheers Scott

Hi Dave
Mine came in at 572 lbs. with full fuel and 749 lbs. including the driver. This is with a 2005 Engine.
My balance is 48.5/51.5 with full fuel and 51.25/48.75 including the driver! That is pretty close in my book with the front radiator, front steel fenders and all the extras I added.
I know you have your 650 Burgman but at the end trading or selling that for a 400 Burgman might be the best bet. I know after all the mods I put on mine that that would be the engine I would use again but most likely a 2007 or higher. That way I would always be able to get the parts I need to keep it going as part prices for the older ones are going up all the time.
Anything bigger and you just as well get a Tr1ke kit and a R1 motor. Then you would have plenty of power and be able to carry a passenger.
You just might be disappointed I you go this route and at the end find out the handling is not what you thought it would be. That would be a lot of money wasted if that happened. I did many changes but stuck with the stock geometry. The only difference because of the 3/4" rod ends I used on the bottom A-arms is that my track is 2" wider because of the size difference. That actually might help a little bit but did not affect the overall geometry.
Good luck with whatever you decide but now you have three inputs from three people that have one.
Edward

Hi Dave, Should be all sorted now, due to you using an email address with 'special characters' as your username your membership application failed, and you were NOT registered but posted as a 'Guest'. Now you have registered correctly and it's been approved you should have no problems accessing and posting on the Forum. Cheers nigel

Thanks Nigel. Funny that I was a registered member for years before using the same user name and member name, with quite a few posts. Must have been a forum software change. So yes I re-registered and was able to use the same name.

Anyway how come you've been lurking on the side lines for so long? Come on take the plunge and enjoy the fun. nigel

I have over 1,000,000 miles on two wheels and commute 82 miles round trip to work and back in ALL weather on a Burgman 650 scooter. I have been wanting to do a reverse trike for years. While I do not have a trike, I am very good at anything electrical and mechanical so I am able to provide some technical support to others till I start my build. I like the simplicity of the ECO-EXO but also like power and speed. So a 400cc would work but a 650 would be better, for me. Maybe the new owner will think about a 650 RS kit.

So now I can repost this.
I am looking for any ECO-EXO kits that may be partially built or damaged. This kit will be modified to accept a different engine and other mods as I go.
If you bought a kit and found out you are over your head, sorry to say but your loss is my gain. Let me know. DaveJ

Why would you want a larger engine in an Eco-Exo? It already goes around 80 MPH and has enough power to spare. You have 2 builders here that constantly post positive comments concerning the power the 400 Burgman puts out. Any more power or speed then you would need some serious reconfiguring and design changes.
There are 6 Eco-Exo,s in the USA. I know Ed will not sell, I am not selling, and that leaves four remaining. One in Texas, one in Pennsylvania and 2 in Colorado somewhere.
Find out what the lead time for a new kit from Kelvin. It would be cheaper and you wouldn't have to buy the donor.

Dave
You might as well wait for the RS to come out. That may be what you want. It sounds like Kelvin will probably stick with the 400 for the time being for the Eco Exo and Eco Exo R.
I guess one question I had was if you are bent set on putting a 650 in the trike and you would have to do all these modifications to it plus with your welding background, Why not just build the frame yourself? It would be cheaper and then fit yourself and the 650 with the right weight distribution.
I made new A-arms for mine and changed so many things that would not of worked if I installed a 650 in mine.
You might as well start from scratch to get the right balance for what you are trying to do.
And Roger is right as 80 MPH would be the fastest I ever would want to go in this vehicle.
Too bad you could not try one first as I am sure you probably would change your mind after driving one.
We are all trying to help here so you do not end up with a kit that just does not do what you expected after doing the modifications you plan to make.
Good luck with your search and hope you prove me wrong but I feel I am holding the right cards on this one.
Edward

I couldn't talk Roger into riding his ECO-EXO on his road trip out west earlier this year. I have been over 130 MPH in shifter Karts with my butt inches off the ground. 85 MPH is slow to me. I kind of go fast all the time. My Burgman 650 has seen 100+ MPH more times than I could guess. My avatar Pic is from 1982 in a town Heimsheim Germany. That Suzuki GS 750 would do 130 MPH all day long on the Autobahn. I have always gone fast. So yes, a stock Eco-Exo may not be for me. The Manufactures Certificate is the main reason to get a kit over building one myself.
