Sorry nigel
Matt has booked up with his local Robin hood guys. I have not spoken to graeme for a few weeks, Iwill find out what his palns are and post something on here.
This trip will mark the end of my building the Sonic, and the trip is awesome some fantastic driving on the say down and great atmosphere
Last time I spoke to graeme he had an issue with the ACO booking the camping and was trying other possibilities
I have just sent a message for an update, and will post once I have it.
any more takers? you know you want too! would be good to get at least one of all of types down there

Hi Everyone
just to confirm mastarforth's post, despite my feelings that it would be too busy, too noisy and too boosy, I also felt I could not miss at least one proper le mans trip in my life time. So in a change of heart I have booked through my local Robin Hood crowd, but it is part of the group that mastarforth is booking with anyway, so any one who is going will be part of the same camp site.
My crowd will be booking the ferry soon (they are seasoned pro's who say booking early is essential), but we have not decided what crossing to take, (portsmouth/caen is lovely but pricy, dover/calais is cheap but a long way). As soon as we have decided I'll post our plans. Perhaps MOGGERS will want to book the same journeys, unless you have already made your plans.
I also realise that our plans will be based around our Bristol (ish) location, but i'll let you know what we are doing and you can see if it suits you.
More news as it happens
Cheers

Quick update
I have paid my money and secured a general entry ticket and a camping pitch in the circuit on the Pincenardiere campsite. £106 so far.
We will sort out our crossing as the next club meet, but i suspect we will be on the tunnel with an overnight stop to break the jorney on the way down. I'll have to wait and see.
More news as I get it.
Cheers

Same here
Any more takers for LEMANS, there are a limited number of tickets with the Rhocar Mob for this year, as they have greatly reduced the numbers they have ordered from previous years.
If anyone wants the details let me know and I will give you grahams contact details

How sad, I was hoping we MOG team would get to go together, not as an add on to a group with 7 type cars

have to agree with you stiggy
But was not much definate response,
However, lets look at this slightly differently, all we have done, is secure our camping pass and general entry ticket, form the Rhocar guys
all we need to do is get the final list of names and book some more tickets for the camp site, and we can all go as the MEV owners easy!
I have to say I am good friends with the Rhocar guys from previous kit car ownership. But I would love to go and Advertise the MEV brand as oppose to just tagging along with those.
Is their any more takers and we can see what we can arrange. It will cost around a hundred quid for the general entry ticket into the track, and the campling pass for 2 people per car.
Nigel, do you fancy this I know you said you liked the idea? and Stiggy, are you up forit, if people do fancy it, lets get it arranged early to keep costs low and give everyone something to look forward to or aim for for those of you that are building.

I had a quick surf today, the weekend entry fee being quoted as £65 each and camping somewhere decent and not off site is £89 for numbered pitches inc a car. Ferry being around £140 as it is peak season, P&O throwing in 12 cans of pop. Thats about £360 for 2 inc car. There are slightly cheaper camping ares with less desirable locations and not marked or numbered pitches. I asked for a firm to quote a block booking for 10 cars/20 people. They say £4500 which does not add up. Most sites will only allow camping tickets to be purchased if taken with 2 entry tickets. Any suggestions? I don't think we can expect people to book if we do not have a fixed fee or exact details of location. I favour Fri from Dover return Monday. Steady drive down, lunch stop over, arrive late afternoon, all legal speeds.

Good Morning Mr Mills many thanks for your email We only sell tickets only here. You would need to speak with our sister company, travel destinations, about crossings etc. They are both ABTA and ATOL bonded. Houx Annexe pitches are £89.00 per pitch and general entrance tickets are £65.00 per person. Two general entrance tickets are required per pitch. Tickets need to be paid in full at the time of booking and are non refundable. Kind regards Tickets-2-U

I have just found the same prices as stiggy for P and O form dover to Calais
Obviously we still have the option of a longer drive in France, and take the chunnel across, or go to dunkurque
just as a point looking on FerrySavers .com website if we were to choose a slightly longer drive we could go dover to dunkurque and get the ferry for £85.00. would probably make an extra hour to hour and a half on their side but works out cheaper.

£110 return is only £25 more than adding maybe 100 unnecessary miles on for the longer trip via Dunkirk. It is only £60 return if you go in the night but I feel the 8.20 ish a.m crossing is better as then we could meet up and stay over in Dover on the Thursday night. I prefer the idea of in circuit camping as they you don't pay parking and don't get stuck in the traffic. Pitches with numbers are the best way to go otherwise you come back and someone has pitched on your doorstep.

OK so it's £110 for the ferry return (2 people one car Dover-Calias) £65 entrance ticket each so £130 and £89 for a reserved pitch (two people, one or two cars ?)
Total 2 people one car = £329
If were planning on leaving Dover early morning anyone got any ideas where we can stay over night around Dover with, secure parking and dependent on return trip is anyone going to stay overnight in Dover on the return leg ?
nigel
(anyone know if and what the French toll charges are ?)
