I am just gauging interest
I am planning on taking the Sonic to Le Mans for the 24 hour next year, and was thinking of tagging along with the Rhocar mob, as one of my friends is going to arrange it for Rhocar.
I am just wondering if any other MOGS would like to go, as woudl be better to take the MEV mark down to france.
If anyone may be interested then please place a post, and if enough interest I will see what I can do to check on arrangements etc.
For anyone that has not been, it is a great 5 days in Le Mans, and for very little money you get into the track for qualifying, down the pit lane (which you would never see on the F1 grid) and quite a few unplanned events that are worth seeing, check out beer mountain website, or club arnage for some of the stories.
Like I said just gaugin interest.

hi Andrew,
This sounds like a cool idea! i would be interested in taking the Rocket (it would be a good test of my build quality!) after-all, once I've completed it i'll need something to do with it!
Not sure what others think of the idea? but put me down as "would like more info"
Cheers, ol

will do mate
I am seeing it as the completion of my kit.
IT is a great drive down, and as many of you will know french motorways, with the exception of the police hiding behind brdges, trying to catch the 70,000 brits decending on Le Mans in various makes and models, are superb, and great to drive on.
Any more interested?
I will look into it and post a few more details as I have them.

I went to the classic lemans this year, excellent fun and a good drive. I don't fancy the full lemans (I think it will be a bit busy for me) but i do recommend the drive down.
Cheers

Hi everyone
I will find out the details from my mate on how they intend on moving on this, I will be meeting him on Wednesday.
As i have said the drive is amazing and so is the atmosphoere
Matt, for all it is busy, it does not seem too busy to me. I nearly came to the classic this year, but work and uni commitments stopped me. you will know many of the Rhocar Le Mans usual suspects from your track days with them so you know it will be a laugh

We should definitely do it. Anyone who misses this will regret it when they see our pictures on our return, I have driven down several times in tin tops and always admired those guys in the 7's. We would have a great time, we don't need to race down, we can have plenty of planned stops so we can keep together. Speeding is what all the cops are on route for so we don't need to be concerned about the drive, we can stick to the legal limits, enjoy the ride and laugh at those guy's speeding when we pass them as they pay out to the police. The countryside is great, the roads are excellent and if it rains, who cares, helmet on, water proofs on. Ear plugs in at night, not the car noise that bothers me, it was the Stranglers doing a free live gig last year. The atmosphere is brilliant, they even camp in the middle of roundabouts. Like I said we have to do it. It should be made compulsory for MOGGERS. When you get back you will be so proud of your car. If it breaks down and we can't fix it between us then the RAC/AA cover you for Europe anyway. If a car fails we should have a spare seat between us. Camaraderie is cool.

Ok guys
Been speaking to the guy arranging the LE Mans trip for Rhocar This is his response
Hi Andrew, We are booking through the ACO, I did talk to ticket Agencies but they were going to work out to expensive. I will need to have firm orders with deposits by the end of September. Members from Mev more than welcome. Hopefully the price will be the same as last year £50. this would be for one camping Permit.
Individuals will have to arrange the following
General entry tickets can be purchased at each entrance Gate for around 55 Euro. Ferry tickets are on average £50 return depending on crossing/time etc. Stop off at a Hotel B+B or similar on the way down and back. (Optional) Fuel and toll costs. Food and Beer costs. European breakdown cover. Personal travel insurance. Tent to sleep in etc.
Going to Le Mans does sound very daunting for the first timers but it is something not to be missed, it is all very easy to book ferry,s etc. I arrange all the camping whilst there ensuring that you will all be together on ONE SITE NEXT to each other. I can help anyone needing help with booking ferry/hotel/etc, etc

Basically, the camping ticket all grouped together will cost around £50.00,
Ferrys can be picked up cheap when they get released early in the year
From what I remember the camping pass is per tent.
he is taking deposits of £20, at the moment for camping tickets. that will end up around the £50 mark depending on numbers. camp sites generally have shower / toilet facilities,
If anyone is interested I will pm me and I will give you his emaiil address to contact.
It is great fun and would turn heads to get some of the MEV mark down there next year!
