Well, part one of the plan to get a tR1ke is complete - my Fury sold last week so now there is a nice kitcar shaped hole in the garage and lump of cash to help get me moving. Now I just need to sort out a kitchen and bathroom in the house (I've been told thats a priority for some reason!) and then onto a build hopefully. Will keep an eye out for doner bikes over winter although so far I haven't seen anything which makes me think its a bargain worth jumping at. What do people count as a "reasonable" price for a doner, 2000 or 2001 model (dont want/need to go injection). I don't know too much about R1s but managed to make a profit when it came to selling my previous bikes compared to purchase price.

I would say where possible buy a bike you can ride home, this will give you an indication to how it performs, and any tell take signs before stripping it down. I bought what I thought was a bargain track bike for £1200, it turned out to have a dodgy engine so the total cost of a donor was closer to £1900. The more trick bits fitted the better the return on eBay for parts. You won't need your frame, so anything straight with a V5 is going to stand to help. Don't pay over the odds for silly expensive extras of course as you will most likely not need them.
I would say £2000 budget for a bike should see a good working model,
