Hi all.
This may seem premature as I haven't ordered my kit still. However I can't work out how registration works. It seems that some have plates from the donor bikes year and some have new registrations. I wonder which mine will be as I was thinking of a private plate. I guess something like R1 MJK (MY INITIALS) would be fine anyway as the plate is older than my 2002 donor bike. I wont have a receipt for a reconditioned engine and swing arm so I am guessing that mine will be registered as age related to the donor bike. Am I correct?
Thanks
Matt

The way it works is this as I understand.
If you buy everything new or make things appear to be new, as in Powder coated etc and keep all receipts, you can have 1 item classed as reconditioned, so this would be your engine and gearbox, everything else either has to look new, or be new. If you do this and submit your receipts then you should receive a NEW number plate, so if done 2014 would be a 14 plate. If you use second hand parts, as long as they have receipts I believe you would get an age related plate, so if the bike is a 2003, then a similar plate would be supplied, because it is registered as an MEV TR1KE and not a converted R1 you would recieve a different number plate from the DVLA to the one with your frame etc.
If however you use bogus (stolen non verified parts) spurious parts made in a shed, you would receive a Q plate.
Avoid a Q plate at all costs, because you cannot change it to a private plate.
New plate or age related allows a private plate to be fitted whenever you like fella.
Hope this helps.
I am pretty sure this info is correct, but your best port of call is Paul at RTR for the facts mate.

Well I hung on to my Logbook, but RTR registered mine as a new build and I got a new plate. If you are fitting new bits mate, then its gonna be a new plate, keep all receipts no matter how small, it all helps
