Sywell aerodrome hosted the Classic Pistons and Props show last weekend and..
MEV’s Replicar was on the invitation list.
The show ran on the 28th and 29th Sept and we were graced with excellent
weather all weekend. Hot sunshine generally ensures a relaxed and fun
atmosphere and it certainly worked at Sywell.
It was a truly special weekend, knock out. Great cars, great entertainment and..
that all important ingredient, vitamin D for the whole weekend made this a
special time to remember.
Even Brian Joscelyne (one of the founder members of the Aston Martin owners club) was impressed with our car, he even video'd it assuming it was an Aston!
F1 and drag cars, hot rods, pre and post war cars in abundance, wing
walkers amazed us in flight and there were all sorts of brilliant aviation
treats. Later after a good meal in hanger one we were all dancing to the
fantastic Swinging Blue Jeans.
Many thanks to the organisers and especially the marshalls who took good care of us all.
Note the air display in the background.
The live event had so much action on and around the runway it was often difficult to take it
all in. At any one time you could witness cars screeching off the line
whilst a microlite or helicopter was landing on the grass and a Spitfire
or Bi plane was doing loop the loop. What a spectacle.
In true time honoured tradition I captured the attention of the huge crowds, but not
for the right reasons. I gave the Replicar full beans to ensure a decent
amount of rubber was left on the concrete as I leaped off the line, BUT,
well it is a kit car, the exhaust fell off!
Proud to be part of it all, the dancing was a little dodgy though!
