Hi, I've just bought my rocket as a part build and it looks like the previous builder has done a lot of the hard work for me. Now I've got to work out the list of things to do. It seems to be one of the early kits from 2008. Most wiring done, last bits of connecting cables and fitting interior to do. Not running or driving yet but close. Ade

I was going to post but the mobile interface doesn't make it easy. Here is my car as bought. I was lucky to get the chassis and body colour that I wanted.

Starting to make a list of the jobs to do. I'll start with a small job, so screwed lamda sensor into exhaust and noticed it doesn't seem to have a cat. Possible problem for IVA then? Good start. Next I'll just connect these fuel lines up to the tank and route fuel filler hose. Quick look into the tank to notice lots of silver shiny filings. ok tank needs to come out to be flushed and then I noticed one of the sender unit fixing holes had been mangled. ok so now I need a tap and die set to create a new one.

Just some notes so far, regards to fuel tank etc.
Make sure underneath the tank, on the floor pan has adequate size holes to allow fuel to escape in event if leak. The fuel breather, needs to be fuel resistant, and have certs to accompany. That tube would not survive exposure to liquid for much time, given tank has to be ahem, full for IVA. The fuel filter pictured, would not survive 45psi fuel pressure, lucky to take 20. It's from a carb car, and given fuel pressures the zetec uses, may end up failing with fatal consequences. If lucky, it will just leak, if unlucky, it will take you, and your house out. Use a charcoal style from a Peugeot or something. Usually. 8mm push fit/barbed end that your motor factor stocks.. Go raid the shelves. They're about a tenner.

OK thanks, the breather was just temporary, i have spare fuel pipe to use. Where do people route the breather? I didn't know about the fuel filter thanks. Adrian.

The breather goes above the level of the fuel filler, so that none will spill out during hard corners on a full tank, usually though the breather goes direct onto the filler cap funnel. Then, you can blank that one off.

This is the filler I have which is described as vented, presumably that means I can blank off the breather tube? newton 200 filler cap

This may be an issue die to its design Is the funnel vented??

Steve: No obvious holes I can see for venting on the funnel and the cap is rubber sealed. Maybe I'll give them a call to see how it works. Thanks for IVA tip. Ade: 2 Ades this could get confusing... I also had the intention to supercharge. It's getting a bit surreal.. Cheers, Ade

2 months on but some good progress. Fuel tank flushed out, focus high pressure fuel filter fitted, tank sealed and filled. Then I found a leak with the thermostat housing somewhere. Waited ages for rubber seals only to get the wrong part. In the end went to Ford dealer and thermostat sealing ring cost £2.81 quick and cheap wish I had done that before. Also replaced the rubber sealing ring to the block and now no leak. Started the engine and it immediately stopped. Tried starting while giving it some gas and it revved right up then stopped after I came off the gas. Turns out there was a inlet at the bottom of the inlet manifold that I hadn't covered. Once covered (with lots of gaffer tape) it started straight up and idled happily. Now to tidy engine inlets properly but at least I know the engine works. Is there a proper bung does anybody know? Now onto braking system.

I have been given 3 Girling brake reserviors but I believe I need to fit level sensors on the two brake ones for IVA. They screw straight onto top of the cylinders so no need for rubber pipes and it should look very neat. The existing caps (ext 70mm dia) have part number 64474601 and the reservior is part number 64047341. Anyone know of a level sensor cap that might fit?
