Bit of extra info, my bigger tyres got me an extra 20mm in height (205/55/15) and the speedo fixer has £20 shipping from Australia, still not a bad deal. Make sure you have the electronic speedo feed and not the cable drive, you can convert cable to electronic but kit is expensive. I found out that my new tyres make a difference in speed of 5% so I will measure the actual speed before I order the kit as this might fit into the margin that Mazda uses, remembering that speedo can read at the actual speed at worst.

Hello everyone. Been a while! We’re just finishing our second Replicar and just wanted to flag up a niggle that may be important to people about to do their windshield. We have just spent two full long days trimming, drilling, polishing, fitting and refitting the plexiglass panels supplied with the car. When we were finally happy with a perfect fit we took the panels off one final time, cleaned everything down and then carefully peeled off the protective coatings on the plexiglass only to find that we had been given TINTED UV plexiglass. NOT 1959! Bit fed up actually. Our first car had a beautiful crystal clear screen. This just looks like plastic from the 1970s. Check first before you put all the graft in.

Hi James, Great work on your beautiful Replicar. I have just purchased the Red factory build (now green) I was very impressed by your tonneau cover. I m wanting to do the same. Could you share the name of the vendor who produced it for you? If they still have the original pattern id have one made by them. Best regards Simon
Tonneau made brilliantly by local company. They need the car to make templates. By substituting alternate windscreen fixings with press studs you get all the anchors you need around the front without adding any more brightwork.

Hey Simon I worked with James on two replicar builds and had tonneau’s made for both neither will fit the other, non door body shape on the green Aston different at the top to the opening door body and the fly screen cut and positioning also different. So I suggest that all would need to be made to measure. Probably best finding someone local as they’ll need the car to do it

Much more useable with the tonneau. Took her to Harrogate MG annual meeting - literally thousands of cars - it was immediately grabbed at the gate and taken to the paddock for 'cars of special interest'. It was crowded out with spectators all day. It was almost embarrassing. On the road, even motorbikes nod and give you the thumbs up as you as they scream past Ditto, went to Goodwood Revival last Sunday, I had planned for public parking (r.e. a 15 plate) but waved through to the car park at entrance......and sat with pre 66 cars.......saw original in parade lap but was pulled for the race....I waited 15 years to buy a 550 Spyder replica and then SM delivers this and ANC keeps it alive......can’t build one but can love one......

Hi it’s an amazing feeling isn’t it, every time I drive it I get comments and attention all over. anyway company we got to do the tonneau called ‘AMTRIM’ not far from Preston may be too far from you, but they may have other contacts or suppliers that can help. Look Up their website.

Thanks, I’m going to source someone local for the tonneau. What size of number decal did you go for 435mm or other ? (On the DBR1)

It was a bespoke one piece printed one made by local sign maker but no idea now of the size - car in London now so can’t measure it for you

Sidpotters I asked the same question some years ago, the cover was made locally to them and the car has to go in to be measured to get the quality you see in the picture. I did ring the maker of the cover (I'll try and find his number) and he will only make if you take car in. I seem to recall he was in Preston or Lancaster, will get my notes out when i next visit workshop (likely to be Friday).
