Hi, I'm looking around for my next kitcar project and rather like the look of the Tr1ke, always fancied a trike but when I've been on the lookout previously they never quite hit the spot. It's not going to be an immediate purchase but I like to do my research properly so I know what I'm getting myself into I was going to title this thread "go on, convince me" but then decided what I actually meant was "I'm convinced, just make it more obvious that I am!". Do any of the guys who use their Tr1ke on track-days have any comparison against other marques in terms of cornering (performance overall I would think is a no-brainer as they are definitely "brisk"). 10 years ago I did a Sylva Striker with a blade engine so had many a happy hour skipping it sideways and drifting round corners particularly when visiting the lake district so I'm looking for a car which will give me as much fun as that (did a decent mileage and 3 trips to LeMans in it before I had brain-fade and sold it). I currently have a car engined Fury which I have fallen out with as it far too car like and has ridiculous things like carpet in it - its sat looking unloved and sorry for itself and a non-runner, I need something to bring back my passion for sensible cars. Thanks Andy

Hi Andy and welcome, read your post and strongly suggest you get in touch with one of the tR1ke boys like Slugshot, out of all the Trikes on the market the MEV tR1ke hits the spot, and that's coming from a Sonic7 owner, watching / filming the tR1ke boys at Curborough and the beaming smiles of there passengers coming of the circuit is almost infectious. I think that at least 2 trikes will be attending Total Kitcar at Blyton Park in September so fingers crossed you might be able get a ride and thus get the MEV bug as well.

Hi Nigel, thanks for the pointer ref Total Kitcar, have put it in the diary - I missed Donnington this weekend as it doesnt have the same appeal since they lost the trackday portion so this looks like it could be a great show (oh, and we currently have no kitchen or bathroom so working on that was more important)

Hi Andy
RTR will be at the total Kitcar show so come along for a go in my tR1ke. I can't comment on how the tR1ke corners compared to other trikes, iv'e not been on a track with any so come and see for yourself at blyton.
Cheers
Kevin

Hi Kevin, Would be great to see your tR1ke at the show, I've been reading through a lot of the build diaries on here and theres some great looking work gone into them. Glad to hear RTR will be there, I'm also trying to persuade a friend from work to come along as he's new to the kitcar scene and likes the bike engine idea.

Paul, thanks for the head's-up ref the track days, wasn't aware there would be limits to using a trike on a normal track day (does that mean it can go on bike track days if its licensed as a bike?) The main use of the tR1ke would be for road use, I haven't felt the need to do track days in previous cars as enough fun was had on twisty roads (something I have a sad lack of since moving to Norfolk last year). The more I look into the tR1ke the more I think its exactly what I need, yes it's fast in a straight line but thats not the only thing I'm after, it also looks like great fun can be had in the twisty bits which is what appeals more ie something which is fun and brings a ridiculous grin to my face Looking forward to seeing some of you at Blyton to learn more about it and I've even floated the idea of getting an R1 to strip over winter past the financial controller and got a green light

It seems you have already made your mind up ...country lanes are were I spend most of my time in my tR1ke, every passenger that iv'e taken for a spin come back with a changed opinion of the tR1ke, ie better than they thought. If you keep the weight down and not add too many extras you will be surprised how quick they can go through the twistys.

You won't regret the TR1KE, I am also going to Blyton so I'm more than happy to take you for a blast, however Kevin has one up on me as he has been around the track before :-)

Thanks for the offers to take me for a spin, as Kevin observed, sounds like I have pretty much made up my mind and i'm leaning more towards the "it would take something major to put me off" rather than the " I need convincing its a sensible idea" camp at the moment. The forum and friendly welcome certainly help as well as there's lots of interesting info on here and I feel like I could get some help/advice during a build

Must just be me, but I thought lightweight bike engines cars ARE the sensible route The most fun I have trying to answer questions about kitcars is on the trips to LeMans where they seem to get more attention than "exotic" cars. Sometimes, resorting to the art of mime is the only way to communicate if you are linguistically challenged as I am!

After taking a passenger ride in a certain orange one at Curborough.... It changed my mind and opinion on these creatures..
3 wheeled madness, capable of immensely quick changes of direction.
