Hi,

I've been watching the forum with interest and thought it was time to add my build to the list. I took delivery of the kit last August with a plan to have the car completed and road worthy by Summer . Unfortunately due to work commitments the kit is only just nearing completion.

Accepting that I have now missed the Summer (did we have one?) I've decided to use the remainder of the year to complete the car just how I want it and hopefully have IVA/registration complete early next year. I'm gutted really but at the same time I'd be pretty sick if the car spent it's first few months in the rain! I'm, sure my view will change once I've driven the car judging by most of your comments.

The engine is a 2.0L Blacktop, standard until the car is on the road. From then on I have a few plans for an engine transplant that should more than double the horsepower. The chassis roll bar is the same as the original demo car with an additional bar for the harness mounts.

All that remains to complete are fitting the fibreglass seats (I have made bespoke lasercut brackets that need welding to the chassis similar to the V_Storm), fixing the balance bar once the brake bias has been set, making the centre console, fixing the fenders and front rear fibreglass. The rest is just IVA prep. I also have a lasercut throttle pedal assembly to build and fit.

I'm sure I've not come across all the issues with building a 2.0 litre kit but I'll try to help out anyone building the same as much as possible via the forum.

Looks sweet. Really nice quality build. I have a question, what have you used for the black cover over the near side engine mount? Looks neat.

The lad at the tyre shop must have been new when he mounted your tyres to the wheels. Unless you want a nice spray in the face from every little puddle of water, I would have the tyres re-mounted.
That groove goes on the inside. It also positions the nice fat contact patch on the outside of the wheels. Car looks really sharp, too!

What kind of black lines are those you used for the brakes?

My tyre man and garage owner knows his stuff, they have been mounted correctly. The sidewall writing 'MOUNT WITH THIS SIDE OUTWARDS' gives the game away! I'm on my second set on my road car; no probs.

The outer edge of the tyre is almost like the R888's (compound is completely different of course). They are designed to give maximum grip when the outside of the car is 'loaded' into the corners. I like them but they're not the best wet weather tyre.

High pressure brake lines are steel with aluminium coating, then covered with nylon. Low pressure lines are plastic. Neither are commercially available and need the correct tooling to make-off the ends. If you run a post yr 2000 car chances are it's fitted with this tube. If there's enough interest they could be made available as a pre-formed kit.

I stand corrected. It just looks like the water channels will spray the water toward the inside of the car and the big contact patch will lift a little during cornering. Maybe I'm just used to seeing Toyos and BFGs that are the other way round.

As for the brake lines, I've just got the uncoated steel ones. Those black ones look very nice!

Centre console fitted....with enough room for a Ford 'Power' button but I guess a 12v Socket will be more useful ;D

Finally got my throttle pedal from the powder coaters...



The design matches the Wilwood pedal set...The original MEV pedal bracket will have a rubber stop fitted and act as the pedal stop at full throttle, (will have plenty of use then ).

A formed plexiglass cover will be fitted to the chassis opening at the side to prevent direct IVA access.



Planning on making a light weight alloy version soon...

Thanks R16, there's plenty more ideas in the pipeline, ;D. Some will (hopefully) come to fruition over the winter but I guess most will appear when the car is on the road/track.

Yep the pedal's mine; it was first produced in 2D CAD to mirror the Wilwood set from the pivot down. On CAD it was then easy to get the pedal and throttle travel (and the mounting) right before making anything. The CAD file was then used to laser cut the parts from 6mm and 3mm steel, then welded, bushed & powder coated. I did the 3D CAD just to brush-up on some old skills but I'm sure I'll be doing plenty more for my other ideas.

The pedal is a bit heavy for what it is but like I say, an alloy version will be on the way.
